Hello, I'm considering an 84" midmount mower. Is NH the only company that makes them? Also, which NH tractor would be the right HP for light mowing (almost all my grass is under trees and thin). Thanks, Stan Wilhite Decatur AL.
PS. Does anyone know for sure if the term "boomer" is short for "baby boomer"? Thanks again

I have a 72 inch MMM on my 4410 and in really heavy grass uses everybit of the hp available. For most conditions it has more than enough hp. For an 84" MMM, I would suggest at least 35 hp and more like 40 hp. or more. The 84" MMM is going to be challenging in narrow spaces and require a flat bed trailer for moving or removing the MMM. ....

Chief, I have an 8' x 16' trailer for transport and an electric hoist in my shop for removal. Most of my 8 acres is open and flat. My current 5' MMM is just too small. Thanks for the reply. Stan ....

The New Holland TC35,40,and 45 all take the 84" mmm. IF you are doing "only" light mowing then the TC35 would do. But if you are cutting more than 3" off the grass then I would say the TC40 is the way to go. I do not know If Deere or Kubota Offer an 84" mmm on any of there tractors. Also New Hollands 84" mmm is rear discharge so no need to worry about a deflector getting in the way. ....

Thanks for the reply Oneace. I didn't realize the 84" MMM was a rear discharge. In my experience all of the rear discharge decks I've used leave a lot of clumps compared to the side discharge decks. Have you had the same experience? TIA, Stan Wilhite, Decatur AL. ....
