Hi i have B series Kubota that has about 700 hours on it.

I have never cleaned the hydraulic filter suction screen as I found it too difficult to get at for one. And not sure how to clean and what solvent is ok to use.

So I only changed the Hydro oil and canister Hydro filters last time.

Am I asking for trouble never dealing with the hydraulic filter suction screen? Or not messing with somehting I am unsure about OK ?

If the oil you drained out was fairly clean and not full of particles you'll be fine.
The screen is just there to catch chunks before they get into the pump.

When we drain units we use a filter with a mesh screen trap in it and have a look at what came out before we refill the unit. We also use a filter cutter to open each used filter and inspect the filter media for any signs of trouble.

Best of luck. ....

Thanks for the feedback.

I googled the filter cutter and the example they had was for use on Airplanes. Hmm sounds like a great idea in that case.

I also saw a magnet ring that could be put on with the cartridge filter, have not seen anywhere to buy this or if it is a good idea either.

I think I will continue to leave well enough alone. ....
