Yanmar YM1500d. I bought this tractor last weekend not running. Put a battery and new fuel filter on. It will crank over but not start. Put fuel into the breather with some starting fluid and it will light for a second until the fuel runs out. I do know that there is no fuel coming out of the injection pump to the injectors. Could it be a bad pump or just air that needs to be bled out of the system? Any info would be appreciated before i send the pump out to be rebuilt.

I strongly recommend not using starting fluid. Many of these tractors with broken pistons land because of it. Probably stupid question but you do know you have the throttle open and not closed?

I know from following these forums that sometimes air can be difficult to get out. If you have followed the bleeding procedure attached in my first message and maybe did it more than once then you might start to suspect the injector pump. If that is where you are at then let me know and I will give you something to try on the pump. ....

Thank you for the bleeding procedure. I will try it the next couple of days and see what happens. Fingers crossed it doesn't need a pump. ....

The bleeding process worked perfect. I put a new fuel tank, bowl, filter and hoses and bled the system like documented. She cranked right up and purrs like a kitten, lol. The radiator has a hole in it so that is next on the list besides a complete fluid change and the T.L.C. that it so desperately needs. Thanks again for the info and i will keep yall up to date on the process. ....
