Welcome to our little corner of the internet.

You make almost sound like you have 1 dead cylinder, and it was like that before you started throwing parts at it?

In those old gas motors a lack of hard work would let them carbon up pretty good. I've seen them so bad a valve stuck open.

If it will run, I'd give it a healthy dose of Sea Foam and give it a real good load for a bit to blow it clean.

Either way, more detail about the problem might make guessing at the solution a little easier.

Best of luck. ....

I have an F-40 Ferguson which is the same as a 50 M-F.The Engine was made for 103 octane, do as the man above me says, then start using a Octane boost with you fuel,But first I would drain the gas tank, then replace fuel with new fuel and I also use about 1/3 quart of motor oil per tank of fuel.because of the fuel today is made from corn and has no oil in it.
Seafoam is good to use often.in these older gas engines. ....
