I have a farmboss 2004 284 FEL I was working the tractor find. Then when I got ready to put it up,I notices the FEL won't lift up unless I gave it alot of throttle and now it wont go up at all but the 3 ph does but I have to give it throttle to with no load on either of them. The control valve for the FEL is leaking a little but all the fluid levels are good.Does this mean a bad hydraulic pump?.And If so where is the best place to get one.Or could the leak be causing the system to have to much air in it causing it not to work and if so how do you bleed the system. The arms will go down and it will curl up as well but not go up or curl up.Or is it just a bad valve ? THXS jebass

If your steering is affected too, it could be the pump. Sounds more like the loader control valves thouth. It also wouldn't hurt to remove/disassemble/clean/replace the priority valve. In some circles it's called the diverter valve. In any case, it should be just a little ways in front and to the left of the brake pedals.

No need for a photo. It's on the right side of the tractor, just forward and to the left of the brake pedals. Typically black; one hose in, two hoses out. One output to the rear lift, one output to the steering. Disconnect all three hoses, remove PV, disassemble/clean, replace PV, reconnect all three hoses. System is vented, so there should be no reason to have to re-prime. You might have to replace whatever fluid was lost though.

If it's a Chinese loader, I'd say that's a dealer question. But if it's an American aftermarket loader, we might be able to help.

I have similar problem and I am very new to tractors. I can't get the brush hog hydraulics to lift and the front loader goes up very slow and sometime not at all. I have replaced the filter and assured that the fluid is full. I'm 100 miles away from the tractor with no internet on site. I'm asking if only the front loader moves and the brush hog will not move is this a pump issue?

Thanks Chuck ....

Welcome to the forum Chuck, I'm going to suggest that you start a topic of your own. Near the top left of the page is where you click to "Start a New Topic". Describe the make/model/year of your tractor, and describe the issue in a bit more detail. Right now it sounds like you have a front loader (FEL) that's working poorly, and a rear lift that's not working at all.
