Hey folks,

I've been lurking on here a while and thought I'd come to this group with a question. I purchased a Kubota L4310 HST primarily for mowing and bushhogging. The question is, will the HST handle a 2 bottom (16") plow? I feel like it will but this is my first tractor with HST so I wanted to ask people who have more experience than me. Thanks.

Depending on your soil you should be fine at a throttle 2,000 or higher and the middle range.

I don't see to much of an issue unless on hills and then you might need to go to low range. ....

My blue 33HP can easily handle a 2-bottom in clay in 2nd range. Do you have 4 wheel drive? Mine does which may help overall. ....

VaOrange,

My implement horsepower book shows about 1 horsepower required for each inch of plow bottom, at 5 miles per hour.

Figure it like this:

(32 inches = 2.6 feet * 5 mph * 700 pulling pounds (Medium Soil) * work factor of 1.54) / 375 = Drawbar Horsepower required

2.6 feet * 5 mph * 700 pulling pounds * 1.54 work factor = 14,014

14,014 / 375 = 37.37 Horsepower

I'm not sure how much of a comfort factor is figured into these ratings, but from my experience with this chart the figures are listed to be easy on the tractor, without over-working the poor girl.

Your tractor should pull that plow without any problem.

Hope that helps.

Joel
