I am looking at a "new to me" used 2003 Kubota B7500. It is 4WD, approx. 1600 hrs, no attachments and the Kubota dealer wants $4000 for it. The price seems too good to be true. Opinions please?

The hours seem light for commercial operation, but twice normal for hobby use. Either way, that's not much for a quality brand.

Price could reflect the slow market, the fact that a tractor without attachments can't do much other than tow something, or the dealer needs the cash or knows it has a problem. What warranty is offered? ....

There is no warranty on the tractor that I know of. Since I am new to this tractor business, what should I be looking for if there is a problem? Is there any site out there that will give you help buying a used tractor (i.e., what to look for, identify problems)? ....

I don't know Kubotas but they are the Toyotas of tractors, meaning probably no trouble spots. If you could learn who the previous owner was, you could ask him. If it was bought new from that dealer, you could ask to go over its service records.

Anything is negotiable. For instance, you could say your offer includes thorough training in its operation and maintenance, delivery, one service call, and 50% parts and labor discount for 90 days. They can reject, accept, or counter-offer.

We might be able to help more if we knew what you were planning to use it for. ....

That is a good price in my mind, I paid $9500 for B7500 with 60"Mid Mount Mower and LA302 Front End Loader, 800 hrs but i don't remember the year of the tractor.

I have a couple thoughts on this:

1: the price is low (AKA: resonable!) so they probably want to part ways quickly with no strings, so be prepared for issues - mainly stemming from abuse, this really is a great tractor in my opinion

2: If I were you, and as the previous posts say, I would try to get a limited warrantee or discount for parts/labour thrown in for a period of time THAT WOULD COVER YOU WHEN YOU ARE ACTUALLY GOING TO USE THE TRACTOR enough to get to know it and find any issues. But as the price is low to start with, I would anticipate having to pay more for this.

3: What are you going to use this for? If you want a Mid Mount Mower, Front end loader (get the 302, not 272, 302 has better/greater limits), front mount snowblower, etc. it may be harder to find and more expensive because it has to fit your tractor. There are aftermarket options for all of the above but kubota does a good job of making their attachments work well for each tractor (in my humble opinion). Maybe looking at another used CUT with the attachments you want already on it would be better in the long run?

4: If you're looking just to use 3pt hitch attachments then by all means, go for it, most major manufacturers implements work great on all Compact Utility Tractors.

Good Luck ....
