Hey gang, first post here. Nice site!
Here is my deal, I have a 4x2 with a frozen up engine.
I want to re-power it.
I was wanting suggestions from you all.
I want more top end...I know this is limited by the clutch sizes.....primary and secondary. So I want to re-power maybe with a 6X4 twin engine and the combination of the 2 best clutches for the best top speed possible....Please help me! What shoud I do that will work? Thanks

Save your money, sell it, and buy something made for speed. You need to consider that gators are not made for going fast or for high power. You can have all kinds of engineering issues such as parts breaking, cracking or bending due to high shock loads from hitting bumps, or obstacles. ....

We have a 4 x 2 Gator that is like 7 years old. It has been good on repairs not needing anything other than maintenance with probably like 300 hours.

The green was my wife's idea totally and against my desire but since it is her's...
The model we have no suspension on rear axle, very limited braking ability with no seat belts. On paved road probably can handle some more speed but on rough ground with ours it is fast enough. I know JD has made some improvements but look at your machine very carefully before you push the speed.

Now why I do like the speed of the JD, it falls into Farm Machine category with insurance and tags and such. The faster machines do not here. ....

KT; The new Gator that is supposed to go 40-45 MPH has me wondering if the insurance companys will now call all
Gators a sport machine rather than a farm machine? I think my XUV insurance cost is somewhere in the 60-70 dollar per year range for full coverage.
I think mine goes like 25-30 on the road, that's plenty fast. ....
