I have been looking and compact tractors and have thought possibly about getting a back hoe to dig up small tree stumps around my property. I only wonder if the bx24 will do the job. Largest tree to dig up is no bigger that 8 inch diameter.

Depends on the soil and the tree species, I did not find that a hoe on a compact makes for an easy extraction. A stump grinder doesn't mess the surrounding lawn. You can rent them or buy one for a rear hitch. ....

I took about 6 stumps out with my BX24TLB in the fall. The smallest being about 8 inch and the largest being about 14 inches. One of them gave me a hard time but it came out. I had to do alot of digging to get it out.
The Backhoe worked better than I thought it would.

If you add a Ripper attachment from Bro-Tek, it makes root chopping pretty easy and will save you a lot of work over using the bucket alone. I removed all of the roots from a 36" diameter fir tree pretty easily and some of the roots were 6+" in diameter, using my BX24. Just take your time and don't try to do it right next to the stump.
