Greetings,
I thought I'd write a brief review of my brand new Kubota BX2350 sub compact utility tractor. I've only ever used John Deere lawn tractors before (as a kid in our yard, and as an adult helping mow the lawn at church), so having this little diesel tractor is much different (in size and power) than I'm used to.

Our friends nearby growing up had a very small diesel Kubota (probably a 1980 model or so- forget the model number, but it's well-known) and it always sounded like an HST... had that hydro whine. Anyway, I always thought Kubota's were cool since the first time their daughter gave us a hayride through the woods behind this little Bota. There was a big mud puddle at the entrance to the woods and she blasted through it without a worry, 2WD I think and no problem. I thought that was so cool. I'm happy to now own a Kubota.

I've used it just for FEL work so far... moving a tree that I cut up after a heavy rain and wind storm. The hydro is very powerful as long as I keep the revs up above 1700 or so for ligth jobs. Lifts the 3point at this rpm too with no worries. I find for some stuff I don't need to be near full throttle. I'm sure with mowing it'll be the same. The dealer I bought from in Dunn, NC basically threw in a boxblade and 48" Landpride reverse till for a very low cost. Have the 60" MMM and the FEL also, as mentioned. We have four acres (3 grass, 1 back, woodsy pasture) and I feel like this small diesel was made for properties around this size.

It's alot more powerful than a new gas mower, and not crazy-large like a regular sized tractor. From the hour or so I've operated it, the fuel guage doesn't seem to have moved, so I think the little 23hp engine is pretty fuel efficient. If you're looking at SCUT sized tractors, do consider the Kubota. I didn't actually drive the Deere 2305 or the MF 2300 before the Bota, so can't compare. But the Bota is great. Drives like a nice truck with its power steering and high seat position (compared to a garden tractor) and seems very stable on the few bumps our property has --with FEL and tiller on the back as ballast.

The new Kubota seat (some of last year's 1850's and 2350's had the original seat, which felt too hard on test-drive) is very cushy and feels like a nice car seat. Commanding position too, so I can see everything in back and in front. I ground the gears slightly when first test-driving, but now they're meshing up well, and I'm getting better. The tractor does stop abruptly when going in reverse, and then letting off the reverse pedal suddenly, but I've grown used to this and let off gradually.

If you're thinking of the 2350, feel free to post and I'll try to answer any thoughts you have/questions. I'm going to take pics, and will try to post them soon.

Happy spring,
Mike in NC

Mike, the dealership, do or did they sell New Holland also? If so I talked with them a few years ago and decided against them only due to the distance but was impressed with them. They sure recommended the Kubota very highly. kt ....

Good question-- I don't know if they ever sold NH. They don't currently, and yes, they do seem to really back Kubota. The salesman told me that the BX series is made in Gainesville, GA, apparently 1200 employees???? there, and that the parts are all fabricated by Kubota, which is good in this day and age. Sort of a selling point for me, although I think the MF and JD are probably assembled (if not more --e.g. parts also made in U.S.?) in the U.S. And I don't know that larger Bota's aren't made in Japan and then shipped over. They speak very highly about Kubota at Carver Equipment. Apparently Carver is family owned. Steve Carver even answers the phone sometimes, and thanks you for your business each time on the phone. Nice folks. Mike ....

You said it they're nice. The salesman was straight up trustworthy and friendly start to finish. No mysteries (if there would ever be any in buying a tractor) and no hassles. Apparently they do alot of out of state sales of new Kubotas also, although they might be seeing a few less lately with hauling costs/diesel prices going up. Great dealership. Very well-recommended. ....

I realize this is an OLD post but... thought I might include some info for anyone looking at a used BX2230.
I started out with a BX1500, I was just looking for a GOOD, HEAVY DUTY mower for my 3 acres, got sick and tired of repairing my old riding mower.
I got a "box scraper" with my BX1500 and figured it might move some loose gravel on my driveway and one day I put the teeth down and ripped the heck out of some hard ground, I was so shocked how much power and torque it had! I thought I should try a FEL just because of all the things I needed to do and having a bad back I figured it might pick up tiny loose items and would be very cool. Once again, SHOCKED! I have ran heavy equipment and owned a construction rental store so I know equiment and this thing just kept surprising me! We have a real problem with grass stickers, they are just everywhere so I decided to get a Kubota PTO bagger. As usual with Kubota it was much more heavy duty and larger than what I was expecting. The bagger really takes some snort to pull, yes this is a REAL bagger with a blower and everything! My BX1500 would pull it very well except on my hills and then it would really smoke and start to pull down a little, I didn't want to push my tractor to the limiit (and wanted a fuel gauge) so I upgraded to the BX2350. I had to use the 54" belley mower to get it into my shed :-( but it pulls ALL my attachments with real ease! The 3 cylinder is much smoother than the 2 cylinder BX1500 but uses lots more fuel (still not much). The tires are all bigger and that helps with the loader. This is the 5th year I have had it and have around 500 hours on it, average 100 per year. It movers so much more snow than I ever imagined it could and does everything so much better that I ever expected. 4 year of payments are behind me now and after I switched to synthetic Rotella it starts in below zero temps, doesn't like to start but it had never failed me yet. I always use off road diesel with additive and I have never had one problem with my tractor, my wife does about half the mowing and the power steering is great. I became disabled from a ATV accident and now the loader is even more important than ever. Can't say enought good things about my BX2350 (or BX1500 too)just remember IT'S A SUBCOMPACT TRACTOR! I have seen people complaining about tipping and other problems but it's a small (tiny actually) and in that context I can't help but see how you would be impressed with a Kubota BX2350. Hope this helps someone.
John...
SORRY I changed it but I keep thinking my tractor is a 2350 for some reason?? ....
