I just did a tear down and repair of my farmboss Stihl chainsaw (026 I think). When I put the magneto back on, I set the gap at .010, but didn't have the manual for that number. It runs, doesn't hit, etc., but I would like to know the factory setting, just to be sure I guess. I've looked on line, and the Stihl website says the shop manuals are only available to their trained service techs.
Anybody have that information here, or some rule of thumb that would apply?
Thanks
David

David,
I can't help you with this one. Sorry about that.
Call your local small engine repair shop. They might be willing to provide this small amount of info over the phone, at no charge.

Hi,
.010 well work good, that is the rule thumb I have used for years. But still call your dealer. ....

Thanks,
.01 is what I remembered (I thought) from years ago. I called one shop, and they said bring it in and they'd set it, for $20. I said no thanks, and made a mental note to never go there in the future. I'll keep calling though. Someone ought to be helpful enough to just tell me the setting.
Thanks again,
David ....
