Does anyone know if any other manufacturer's buckets fit on a JD 46 backhoe? I'm looking to purchase another bucket and wanted to have more pricing options than just the JD bucket.

I did buy an aftermarket bucket for mine, but I am not rock solid sure of the brand because I sold it a year later. I am 99 percent certain it was a Great Bend.
Pull up some pictures on Northerntool.com and you will see your 46 B/H with different paint.

While you fellow Back Hoe'ers are here, I have a question.
What is the best way to crimp them bucket teeth on? I have tried a 9 pound hammer and braced the bucket and then I got a large tap and Geez! because of the closest on the 9 inch of the two teeth, it makes it rather hard to get a good angle. My arms grow tired and the crimp is still half-ass
Any ideas? Would a 7.62mm at about 25 meters do the trick? I was afraid of trying because of the fragments from the projectile would probable severe a hydralic line.

I found the pics interesting... I've bought stuff from Northern tool in the past - and I have notice a lot of their items are 'private labeled' (which kind of sucks for the consumer, as it's tough to comparison shop).
John Deere's list price for buckets are less that the current discount prices at Northern Tool.
wingwiper - never had to replace any teeth yet, so best of luck.

I am not sure that Great bend is the OEM. I think there are other labels for the same product.
I can't seem to find a direct link to Great Bend on the web.
I always thought that Great "Bend" was a bad name for a backhoe anyway......... ....

I have always welded my teeth on. It seems easier to grind off the welds come replacement time. The professional backhoe operator I hired years ago would crimp his on but he would also lose one or two now and then. ....
