950 Loosen Power

As I was plowing last night my tractor would loose power and stall out. I can restart it but once under load she would start to slow up and hesitate until it would stall out. When I felt it start to loose power, I would depress the clutch and worked the throttle to keep it from stalling. At idles it seems to run perfectly. From the idle I can bring it back to full throttle with no problem. Once I started to push some snow the rmps and power would drop off. It almost felt like a miss in the motor except this engine is diesel.

What could be happening? Bad Fuel Filter? Injectors? Bad fuel or water in the fuel? Fuel gelling problem (32 degrees last night)? I replaced the air filter about 3 months ago.

I took a look at it this morning and noticed a lever in the line from the tank to the injector pump. Basically looks like a shut off valve. I not sure what position this lever is suppose to be in but it possible that one of the neighborhood kids could have moved it. Anyways the lever is in the down position (which I believe is the way it has always been), just figured I would mention it.

Thanx,
Norm

You replaced the standard fuel filter and checked for water in the bowl. I would check the filter on the end of the fuel pick up line. This will become constricted if you do not prefilter you diesel. It is quite easy to check on on my late model 750. I am not sure about the 950. ....

Thank you for the quick replies. I'll change out the filter and see how it goes.

Peter, I'm not sure where the prefilter is (didn't even know I had one) but I'll look for it.

Thanks!
