3 point hitch settings

When I bought my 7510, I bought a brush hog with it. The pins on the brush hog that the 3 point hitch attachs to were turned to the inside. When I bought my 6' backblade (used) the pins pointed to the outside, so I just turned them around. The other day I bought a York rake and again, the pins pointed out so this time I adjusted the width of the 3 point arms rather than turn the pins around.
My question is, is there a right way to set the pins? Is one way easier to hitch up implements? Right now I have three implements and they aren't set up the same. Any thoughts regarding how the pins are set up or is it simply a matter of personal choice?
Thanks!

The only reason to turn the pins inward is if they don't work the other way.
In terms of strength or usability, I don't think there is any difference. ....

There is a reason.
If you spend a lot time pulling your piece of equipment the pins should be facing out. The arms of your 3ph will try to pull into the frame of the implement. If the pins face in the force will be against the lynch pins and the very end of the implement pins. You'll bend them if you work it hard.
If you push backwards then the pins should face in because the arms tend to wanna spread so then they are pushing against the frame and the base of the pins.
Now for implements that go either way. With my box scraper I do a lot of rear pushing but the hardest work it does is with the scarfier teeth engaged pulling so I have the pins facing out.
My snow blower is always pushed backwards so those pins face in.
Other stuff it's a coin toss, but gererally the pins face out unless it's a for sure only rearward working piece of equipment.
Hope this helps. Harvey ....

That brings up another things to throw in the mix.
My BX had the sway chains mounted inside the arms. So when the pins faced out the arms were pulled in toward the frame.
My 4110 and 4115 have the sway chains on the OUTSIDE. So when the pins are also facing out the pressure pushes outward on the lynch pins.
So Harvey's observations should consider the basic design of tractor.
