My left front wheel does not turn when the right does in MFWD when stuck in snow. There is no noise even when lifted with snowblower and turning the wheel by hand. There is a slow leak on that side and the seal needs to be replaced.
Any idea of the seriousness, cause and repair?

Both differentials and your tractor are just that, differentials. That is why you have a differential lock function for the rear axle. Unfortunately because of the steering action they cannot make the front axle lock or you could not turn a corner.
What you are experiencing is completely normal for any MFWD tractor.
