I have a TC33D and presently a 72 inch side discharge RFM. I was considering trading for a new one with rear discharge, to get rid of the windrowing I get when the grass gets a little too far ahead of me. But now I am thinking what about an 84 inch? <br>

The 84's have larger tires (smoother?) and there is a possibility I may go to a larger tractor, so buying a little larger now would mean it would cover the tracks of a larger tractor. But that is probably a year away.<br>

My questions are:<br>
Does anyone out here have a TC33 or similar size with 84 inch RFM? Is it too big regarding PTO power needed, or too heavy, or more awkward? Does scalping become a huge problem with the extra foot width? Anything else I should consider?<br>

That an idea, but I think I'll go over to my NH dealer and measure the arms and links on the TC35-45 chassis and compare it to my TC33D. There is a fair bit of size difference in the tractors, and I want to be sure the 3pth are comparable in size.

I, as well, have been trying to get an e-mail response from Intergration Engineering. I e-mailed them June 1, June 21, and yesterday, the 23rd. No good phone number either. I wonder what gives.

Murf, great. If you could give me the name of a supplier of the bristles, I'll check it out.

Most times I don't mind paying for ready made stuff. For me, all the time lost and aggravation trying to do it myself is not worth the money saved. But this seems like it should be pretty darn simple.

By "chips" I meant stone chips, (around here that's 3/8" crushed quarry stone, clean, no fines). I thought that might be good, because it would always be dry with no small material in it to hold water and freeze.

The dealer brought over a Harco cone-type the other day and I experimented with sand and stone dust (again, around here, that's crushed qarry stone, smaller than 3/8" with all the fines in it). The stone dust did the best job, but I decided to order the Herd 750. The Harco did ok, but flung the material to far. I had to have the tractor idled right down to do the lane, and it still covered about 25 feet. For the times I will use salt, I'd rather not put it directly on the grass. The Herd is "supposed" to have a slower spinner.

I don't think mosquitoes are affected at all by light, but rather are attracted by carbon dioxide in breath or body heat or odours. But there are plenty of other bugs that are attracted to white lights, so I guess for them, the yellow lights might help.

I was reading your thread here and I seem to have the same problem as you did. I wonder if you could look at my pictures and see if the set up looks like your dealer originally did on yours.

I have two problems with it

1) When the BH comes off, one of the lines coming down out of the FEL valve enclosure, which is disconnected from the BH line at the front of the BH subfame, has to be connected to the hydraulic block near the engine dipstick. As shown in picture 1, this line is not long enough and must be stretched really tight to be attached. Then it blocks the bottom plate that has to swing down when the FEL is to be detached, so I have to remove this line every time I put the FEL on or off.

2) When connecting and disconnecting the BH, The hose at the front of the subframe is in danger of getting sheared off or pinched by the mounting brackets under the tractor. Then you have to lay on your side to connect this hose, and then you have to coil the hose and tie-wrap it to the subframe. I have an injured shoulder and this procedure is a royal PITA, as well as in the shoulder.

I can't believe this is the way it should be done.

I had trouble uploading my pics, got a couple of duplicates I can't get rid of, but hopefully you can acess them well enough to see what I am talking about.

Hi, Rambler. Thanks for getting back to me. The 501 is a Ford, correct? I haven't seen one, but I think it is probably a bit different from my NH 451.

I got mine hooked up and working. It was a devil to adjust, even with the help of an old manual. My TC33D must be a little lower and more "crowded" on the back end than the smaller farm tractors this mower would have been used with.

You refer to a clamp on the left 3pth arm. On my mower there is just the a pin to mount into the ball on the end of the 3pth, and there is a separate large inverted-U shaped "stabilizer" bracket that mounts to the tractor at the top-link point. It is impossible to describe how it works to raise or lower the mower blade, and even if I get around to sending a picture, that might not help too much.

I have seen some other mowers that have an extended arm that pries against the bottom of one or the other of the 3pth arms ahead of the pin in the ball to raise the blade. Does that sound like your 501?

Just curious, what is the difference between single- and double-action sickle bar mowers? I have NH351 7 ft. sickle bar but ahve never heard these terms before.
