When I clean my deck I remove the spindle covers first then blow it with a backpack blower than hose it and than do the blower again, then run it before putting it away.

I know the feeling. I gave up my 80 acres in Northern Minnesota before I could get a house put up on it so I could move to Iowa. I lived in a 1200 sq ft house in Iowa on a 60 x 130 lot. Now, I'm on 20 acres with a shop. I'd have a real hard time going back to suburbia.

I told my wife if we have to move back to a suburb, the tractor goes with us. So what if it only takes 10 minutes to mow the lawn with it? I'll have the biggest lawn mower in the neighborhood. Clear my driveway of snow? No problem.

Glad you enjoy the board. I've found it very useful myself.

There are some differences in tractors as to the way they are equipped. I have the books so I just go to them. If you don't have the exact model with tires there are differences in priceing. Does it have the cab, dual valves.

I had nearly an identical situation a couple years ago on an item not related to tractors or equipment, and again the deal was signed and a delivery date was pending. A call from the dealer said he could'nt honor the deal unless I would agree to a 3 and a half percent price rise on a 75,000.00 deal. I took no action against the dealer, I just went elsewhere, but he got his just reward. In six months the place was closed. Frank.

Mike1819: I had a 4300 before I got the 4310. The joystick on the ten series is shaped different and in a more natural position. Perhaps a ten series lever would fit your 4700 and be more comfortable. Check with a Deere dealer, I'll bet they'll interchange. Enjoy your day. Frank.

2004 Kubota 3130 HST w/LA513 FEL

Comments: Purchased tractor end of June 2004, logged over 400 hrs. Tractor is used commercially so it is pushed hard consistently. My first Kubota and first Hydro, it took some getting used too, but homerun all the way!

I got the tractor back Friday and it worked good. All three problems were taken care off. The first two under warranty. They must have been quite proud of the Carsile 6 ply tires because two front tires cost me around $150.00 plus labor. I'm going over to Tractor Supply tomorrow and price those tires.

I have the Rhino 75 on a Kubota 3830. The only problem I've had with mounting it is when I put the thing in the old barn once on relatively soft dirt. It was a comedy of errors. First, the stabilizers sank into the ground and wouldn't lift the frame enough. I put 2x12s under for support. It lifted enough but shifted the thing sideways a bit. Repeat several times. Now it's too far to one side so I can't back the tractor straight over it. Turn the tractor around and use the loader to slide the whole thing a bit away from the wall. Repeat at least once. Level the 2x12s better to keep it from sliding. Get frustrated. Pound stakes into the ground to keep it from sliding. Finally get it attached.

Next time I parked it on hard gravel. That worked much better but it did tend to slide back when trying to seat it in the subframe. I think it would be far better to park it on concrete with some way to keep it from sliding back. Even better would be to get some more practice. I've only had the thing on and off about three times.

The backhoe itself is wonderful. Planted lots of trees, dug out some BIG poplar/pine/locust stumps, buried a maple log for spalting, dug a pit for hog roasting, etc. I haven't tried digging any ditches yet.

I have a Woods 5000 chipper/shredder which is essentially to same unit. I have the single speed blower and have used it behind a Kubota B6100E (12 PTO hp) just have to feed it a little more slowly. I now have a new Kubota L3130HST (24 PTO hp), works great but have not used it much yet. I think you could overload it and clog the blower but I don't think one person loading it is likely to do that.

My dealer was smart enought to say he didn't know the best way to fabricate bucket hooks, but said he had a top notch technician/machinist who did. It never seemed like a big deal to the shop tech. You might try talking to someone back in the shop if you can. If your dealer can't handle the job there is most likely a machine shop or welding shop that can do the work for under $100. Good luck. Edit: Forgot to mention that the charge on my work was part of my negotiation. It showed as a $60 shop fee and a $60 credit. I did pay materials and I think that was less than $20 including the hooks, plate for the gussets, and paint.

The 790 is one of the 90 Series compact tractors with the other model being the 990. The 90 Series compact tractors are the "value line" models Deere sells at a very attractive price for those who want a very basic but very realiable and bullet proof machine. No ehydro or other similar features. Just a real solid basic gear shift tractor. These machines are made by Yanmar for John Deere and then imported to the US.

This is a Deere "gray market" tractor. You may get a good deal on it but as already stated above; parts will be a big problem if you can get them at all. Doesn't mean it is a bad tractor. Just know up front about parts and service.

Buy a bearcat 70554. It chips and shreds and works with my 16hp Kubota B7100 even with the one speed blower using some power. Look closly, several companies buy and house label the Bearcat. Examples are: Woods, Walker-Schork and at least one other that I have seen. Woods dealers want $500 more for the same machine that I bought. The blower is great to put the chips where you want them, but be sure that it is downwind of you. Lots of fine dust from rotting wood, bark, and leaves.

Also when you are loader shopping , have a look at ALO/Quicke loaders, they are one of the best out there Period. Also, Buhler/Allied are a good brand too!!

I own a garden center so I have some experience in what you are asking. One thing I can say is growing and selling are 2 totally different things. Most anyone can grow something but just try to sell something when demand for it is low. Things also go in cycles. What is short one year is excess the next. Many things require special expensive equipment and the only way to justify is to go large scale. I.E. baling pine needles or digging trees. You have a small piece so you may want to look at a low imput product that is easy to unload or has shelf life. If you go with produce, look for local produce auctions. It is an easy way to sell with almost no imput and in large quantities of whatever product is ready. You may take a hit on price if there is a glut or low quality, but usually people do well around me. Christmas trees are a product with shelf life and a moderate input level. If they don't sell one year, they are a little bigger the next. Not a lot of special equipment for choose and cut.

The tractor was delivered with the hitch installed and there are some pictures in the manual. If it's that simple then I must be making a mountain out of a mole hill. My questions pertain more to set-up and adjustments for any of the implements that are attached. Is there a rule-of-thumb or general guideline about the length of the top link, etc.

On a previous post, I was curious about hydraulic top links and some the replies cautioned about the limited length needed for this tractor series. If there's another thread on this message forum that deals with the subject, I'd be happy to browse through it.

PIP=Product Improvement Program (John Deere's terminology for what you might call a technical service bulletin with an auto manufacturer). MMM=mid mounted mower. The only dumb question is the one you don't ask. I remember asking the same question too. ;O)
