Two weeks ago I negotiated a price with the local dealer. Last week I went to the dealer and selected which TC40 DA I wanted. I signed the contract and the deal was done. Today was the day for the tractor to be delivered. The dealer was to call me at 10:30am to confirm the delivery time. After waiting until noon, I called the salesman. He said he would call me back. I called again after waiting until 1:15. The salesman said he would call me back in 15 minutes. In 15 minutes he called back and told me the delivery was ready but he had a problem. A 3 % increase in price problem. He wanted more money from me. I said no, our deal was done. He then stated he could not deliver the tractor. I asked to speak to the owner. The owner called me back and stated the salesman had made a mistake and he wouldn�t honor the deal.<br>
Here is the icing on the cake; the owner said I should take the 3 % deal to avoid a warranty issue if I purchased the tractor from another dealer. This dealer knows he is the only game in town.<br>

I don't think they would have put water in the front tires. Generally they put the water in the rears as ballast weight. My assumption is you have a FEL and they put the fluid in to help counter balance the loader. As I said, I am just sure there is a foam product that you can have put into your turf tires that hardens up and basiacally makes the tire solid. If a thorn or nail goes into the tire... so what, it can't go flat. Might be worth looking into.

Unfortunately, I dont really have much dirt to push out to build a pad. How well with an excavator dig through ice? If I was to do it this winter after everything froze up. I could clear out a road and a working pad so that the ground freezes really good. I am just not sure how well it could break through the ice.<br>

I bought an E180D with just 700 hrs and a bunch of attachments. It's old, but works great. I bought it from a little old lady that I've helped out at various times. Believe it or not, she bought herself a big Massey to brushhog with.<br>

What I don't have and would like is a front end loader. I can't find the right info on the internet about aftermarket small loaders. Does anyone have any ideas, brands, prices, websites, etc. I could check out? I'm probably in the market next spring.<br>

What is the Massey equivalent to this tractor? From what I've been reading, I am a little concerned about the availability of parts if anything happens to this tractor.<br>
What is the value of this tractor? I paid $3,500 for all.<br>

Just for info, in case anyone needs it, this tractor uses a NAPA Gold 3390 Fuel filter and NAPA Gold 1460 Oil filter.<br>

Alright! A chance for my $.02 speak. I bought the big green because my wife works for them (no employee discount, the cheap buggers). The dealer is also 6 miles from my house. They aren't anything to shake a stick at, but I can buy the parts and do the work myself.

IF you buy an off brand, you do need to consider such things like oil filters and basic repair parts. Just make sure you know where to get them, that you can get them and what the price is before you plunk down your hard earned cash. I remember how much time I spent tracking down parts for the PTO clutch on my old Oliver. Love the old tractor, but the parts aspect was a huge pain in the ass. So went new for the main workhorse.

Consider the source of help for the brand you buy. If it's some off brand, make sure you can get manuals (in a language you can read) or that the dealer can provide assistance if you need it.

The all mighty $ isn't the most important thing. Do a risk analysis on your intended purchase. Basically a what if analysis. If I blow a hydraulic hose, what do I do? If I blow a seal, what do I do & whats the cost? If the motor just dies, then how di I diagnose it and get it repaired?

As for Chinese tractors, no big deal. Most everything you buy at Walmart is made in China or some other 3rd world country. I've worked with Chinese factories before. They don't yet have a grasp of quality. Sometimes it's great and you thing cool! But then next batch is such crap you wouldn't want to trade an empty six-pack of skunky beer cans for it.

Be sure to remove the battery and inspect for corrsion damage in the trans oil cooler and radiatior. Test the anti-freeze with a test strip if there is no documentation that it has been replaced in accordance with the servicing requirements. If you are going to use these machine for finish mowing you want to test it out on turf to see if it has the front axle that tears up the turf. Hopefully it was replaced with the updated axle in the PIP. If this machine has the MMM installed; be sure to check the half moon bushings on the MMM lift mounts to be sure they are properly installed and have not fallen out. Check the 3 pt. hitch rockshaft axle housing mounts for cracks or bends if it has been improper used or abused. Lastly just check all of the functions and switches for proper function and operation and run the machine at full pto operating rpm and under load for at least 30 - 45 minutes to check for leaks or other problems.

I have to replace the glow plugs because the glow plug controller timer stuck "on" and it burned out all three glow plugs. I was able to remove them without much trouble. Thanks for the reply.

I know the Curtis Cab is one of the nicest units around but couldn't justify the cost.<br>

I settled for a 3 sided wind breaker or "Heater Cab" as TSC calls it. It (02-98962)is currently $165.99. It is made from thin vinyl and is universal (ie. designed to fit nothing). It took a little assembly time and I needed to fabricate a few brackets. I've been careful in use and storage during the summer months and am starting my 4th year with it. See my pic's. #2 & 3. <br>

My properties are about a mile apart in open farming country. The wind blows really hard. Before that, my face just about froze. This kind of cab is all that was available up until the 1960's.<br>

If you can justify the Curtis definitely go for it, if not consider this!

The tires are the industrial--dealer supplied option. They were recommended as less damaging to lawn/yard than agri type.
As for the clearance problem-the front tire has about 1/4" clearance with the front steering link on the b2910 hydro.
Haven't tried fliping the tires/rims, this may give adequate space--anyone try this before.

Today's high is forecast for 75, about 10 - 12 degrees above normal. We have had several days of rain, which means, I will probably have to mow through November, but with the new tractor it's enjoyment.<br>

Murf, check out my pictures 9 & 10. This is the ice storm of February 2003. This occurred on a Saturday night and just about shut down central Kentucky. <br>

I am an engineer with an electric, water, & cable utility. We had about 5,000 customers out due to the downed trees and power lines. As a result I had to work over the weekend.<br>

Most overhead conductors had 1 to 1.5 inches of ice buildup. We design for 0.5 inches which is consider heavy loading. However, according to the National Electric Safety Code we are located in the medium loading district which is 0.25 inches.<br>

I have a chance to buy a curtis soft cab for my 7500.<br>
I have a manual chute on a rear mount blower. <br>
My ? is, will this steam up with out a defroster?<br>
I will have to leave the back window open a bit to access the handle. Not worried about the cold just the wind.<br>

Hmmmm.... had mine about that long too, but only about 45 hours. I have not seen any over-heating problems, but I agree it could use a few more horses. Have you cleaned the screen in front of the radiator?

I have tried three different sets of tires now. It came with 25 inch HDWP tires which were NOT suitable to my sand dune.

I tried some 27 inch, (205-70x15)left-over passenger car radials but that was too much "overdrive".

Most recently I have acquired a set of 23 inch, OEM turfs.
These seem to be most suited to the power curve of the engine.

Take into consideration that I am operating in somewhat extreme conditions.... 5000 to 7500 feet above sea level.

I NEVER loose things like that BUT I "temporarily misplaced" my key to the 4410 awhile back. ;O) I called my dealer and they mailed me a few extra sets of keys and some cool Deere key chains.
