Hi Folks,<br>

I'm looking to add a brush mower to my JD 4310. I have come across a used model 513 which is rated as a light duty mower. If there is anyone out there who owns one or has further information about the durability and use, please let me know. <br>

Most of the mowing will be done in overgrown fields and to cut some autumn olive shrubs. <br>

I've used jet fuel in my diesel truck, it's just superclean diesel at alot higher price. Was working at the airport and didn't think I could make it to the station, so I pumped in a few gallons in my truck.

Taheide, I don't own a grader blade, but spend alot of hours with the boxblade. So I'll try and explain. Park your tractor on a level area and set the box blade on the ground. Look at the cutters and adjust them with the top link. I run mine level, which gives good depth cut both forward and reverse. Just keep adjusting it and find out what works for you. Cylinders are usually pretty easy to repack. It's either going to have a screw off head or an inside snap ring to remove. Pull out the cylinder and you will find some o-rings and packing washers. Take them to your local Napa or Hydraulic supply and they will have what you'll need.

I have a 24hp compact for a little less than 4 acres but I had some heavier duty ideas than mentioned here. It's not over-kill for what I do, but the main reason we do finish mow with the riding mower is that compact would take too long to maneuver around buildings landscaping etc.

Thats what I thought. Luckily it is only an annoyance with me, and not a hazard like yours. I never notice it in low range, and since I usually use high for travel and mowing, I dont seem to have any problems with it, but for yours, you might want to look into replacing the parts instead of monkeying with a spring. If its sticking, chances are the bore or the piston is the problem, and adjusting the spring will only cause more problems.

It has,the only complaint I have is the placement of the brake controls, makes the split braking useless since the go pedal and the brake are off the same foot. I found a way to sorta make up for it, once I get the tractor moving in the right direction I lock the diff and that seems to keep me on track when I'm trying to smooth and pack with the loader.

also ted - I want to use my grand L 3130 for commercial plowing this year. I have the skid steer mount with hydraulic lines run to the loader which i use for my grapple. What plow set up would you recommend to me. Bear in mind....i will be plowing all asphalt & will need to quickly put my laoder bucket back on from time to time to laod the sanders with sand / salt.

In my hot rod days I retrofitted turbos onto a couple of cars. I can't speak to the other failures but pre and post oiling is critical on turbos regardless of the oil used. I thought most manufacturers were already using them in production vehicles but maybe not (IMHO they would be stupid not to). In my experience in Arizona (where everything runs hot) I used to have the turbos rebuilt every 25k miles or so due to bearing pack failures, even when running synthetics and changing oil every 3k miles. The oil would cook off and oil lines and fittings would coke up. After adding pre and post oilers I never suffered another failure. Dana makes a nice setup for diesel engines I believe.

The dump on my gator doesn't work.The elec. motor works when hard wired. Voltage gets to it from the rocker switch. I just dont see how its grounded. I tried running an extra chassis ground wire from the frame to the elec. ram and still had no luck. Any ideas?

I put a switch in the circuit just in case I wanted to have the light off. I may end up checking on a timer but I kind of like it lit up around the front of my house. I almost came face to face with a skunk one morning before I got the sodium light. Now the animals don't seem to come around the cars at night with the light on.
Besides the most important reason is the wife likes the sodium light.

Honestly, when I have a question like that I call my dealer and ask them what they would ask for it if they put it out for sale. They always tell me and they are quite honest. Let me know if you want my dealers number.

You will be happy to know that wood has been moved and soon will be burned up. Is there a reason you should not stack wood between trees? These are 75 years old oak trees.
