I have a Tundra, std. cab, V8, auto, 4wd and couldn't be happier. It is the first truck I have ever owned with either a V8 or an automatic transmission.

The only truck I ever owned with a V8 and automatic was a Ford 3/4 ton camper special.
I bought it new in 1971. It was a really nice trouble free truck.
I've had nothing but 4 Cyl. automatic import trucks since 1989.
I have 4 of them now. Two of them are the 2 I bought new in 1989.
I also have a 1992 Toyota standard cab long bed Toyota I bought 5 or six years ago. It's still like new. Only has about 27000 mils on it.
My every day toy is a 1986 Dodge D50 . I just rebuilt the motor on it last summer and done some other work to it so now it's in a1 mechanical shape with a very good body for it's age. 10300 isn't much mileage for an 18 year old truck.

After 15 years of driving nothing but automatic imports it would be hard to get me to go to a bigger truck and no way will I give up the automatic.

I just wondered how you get 4 people off a 1000' lake with a 170B on floats????!!!!!

I had a '58 180 on Edo 2870's that I figured 2 folks and gear with full (58g) fuel was a load for my sea level 3000' lake on a 60f day. Long floats and had to roll one off before pitching her up with a snatch of flaps.

Had a 170B on wheels/skiis for 5 years. Had a STOL kit and a Borer 80/41 prop. Did wonderfully. Just had to watch the weights leaving.

Gotta run. Doing my CFI renewal on line.

P.S.: I'm from Tulsa originally and have been to Grove quail hunting. I've fished for small mouthed bass on Spavinaw and Grand Lake. You have enough lake for hauling out a load.

Check your left rear wheel to see if it is tight. They might loosen up after delivery just from the paint.

What may be happeneing here, after re-reading some of the posts, is some confusion over venacular. In hydraulic system terms, the "way" refers to the porting of the spool, or the number of flow options as the spool is moved.
The added "way" on the 4-way valve is the ability to supply pressurized fluid to either work port, enabling it to supply pressurized fluid to either side of a cylinder, or operate a motor in either a CW or CCW direction.

What Kubota uses the terminology for may be different. When I ordered my loader, the dealer asked if I wanted a 3-way or 4-way valve. I never asked for a clarification, I got a 4-way valve. After some digging based on this discussion, in Kubota terms, the only difference may be the regenerative cicuit on the 4-way valve. For sure, there aren't any extra work ports.

Murf, a little confused by your reference to 2-way valves. Technically, a 2-way valve wouldn't be a valve at all since it would only have supply and exhaust, with no pressure work ports. The venacular can get messy. My wife is from Quebec. Living with her, I know all about confusing venacular. Maybe you and her can take this discussion further. :)

I still recommend anyone interested visit the Princehydraulics website. They do a good job at defining the technical terminology and differences in spool valve configurations.

I have a BX and nobody has hills like I have hills. I take my Kubota places that would make some of you guys cringe and it takes a licking. One thing that you must know is that the brakes aren't all that great when going down a steep hill in 2wd- even worse if you have a loader with stuff in it. When you go down hill or unload from a steep trailer try keeping it in 4x4 and you will see a big difference in braking power. This is a rerply for the braking part of this thread. Open that BX throttle up at least 3/4.

1*Several people who have CUT's near me do this, the local towing company has a deal with several of the area dealerships, if they can move the CUT as time allows (fill-in work) they do it for a LOT less than normal rates. The tow truck gets work when they normally wouldn't have it, and the customer gets a cheap move.

2*LBrown, maybe I'm missing something here, you have a BX23, the tractor itself weighs 1500#, even with a few extra implements included, the weight probably wouldn't be more than about 3k #.
3*Almost any V6 powered import truck will pull that and a trailer, provided you have brakes, sway-control and an equalizing hitch and drove with moderation it probably wouldn't even be a bad drive.

I know that feeling of frustration. I did not have the best of luck with mine, did not want to own it once out of warranty but cost me 3k for that piece of mind. Not to mention mine was SS so it initially cost more than the 2910 I traded it for.

Keep at them and perhaps they will make it right for you. I would suspect if this happened twice there is an underlying reason. The statement Art made about a recall may help you, it indicates an issue with them. I can tell you, I am pleased with the reliability of the Kubota but miss the better ergonomics of my 29D. Understand it is being updated, may make the difference.

The Chief & Herr Rankin (;-p) have it straight.

Use common sense and the 'pucker factor' to guide you, that and a little experience and you will be fine.

In the begining, practice, or try to drill into your noodle, if the machine gets unstable on a slope you want to do two things above all else, 1) drop FEL and 3pth ASAP, or faster, and b) turn INTO the downhill direction. Avoid if at all possible locking the brakes, skidding wheels give you less in the way of stopping power and no directional stability.

There is no hard & fast rule as to what is a steep slope. It will vary with factors as minute as sunny weather or not.

Hi guys,got friend who has a mahindra ,04 2015hst 4x4 w/60"belly mower ,dealer cant tell him if the deck is quick release, or do you have to unbolt it,he seams to think that it has to be unbolted! (to give more clearance when using loader.) thanks in advance ,Craig.

i've never used a ''shuttel shift'' but ?? everyone says its the way to go..

all of this chat reminds me of the true value of having seperate finaces... The way I look at it... if a marrage can't handle seperate money, if for nothing else, for a few years, than you probley should NOT be married. To boot...the thought that "if your going to buy this, than I am going to buy that" is very elementary and childish.<br>

I routinely run around with 10k # out the back (see my picture # 19) sometimes with too many extra toys along it gets up towards 15k # but that only affects the 'off the line' performance. My tweaked F-350 with the PSD & 6 speed hardly feels it.

The only time I feel it is when the missus swats my for passing 4 cars at a time.....

Lucerne, I wouldn't be complaining about diesel at the price your paying, we have been around US$4.00 / US gallon ($0.80 Cdn. / litre) for quite some time now.

And possibly cheaper. Our local Fleet Farm store sells 1/2" hydraulic hose at $27 for 192" long with NPT fittings. It would only cost about $100 for everything.
