I have a Massey Furgeson 1035. The belts break constantly. Several local dealers have tried several options. Pulley alignment has been checked by several dealers, alternator and water pump pulleys have been replaced along with the bearing from the idle pulley. The last dealer called the factory but we aren't hearing anything back from them. It runs fine for an hour at a time but if it's run any longer the belt breaks. I bought it in 1991 and the first belt went out in two years but I put few hours on it for the first two years. It's immaculate, looks and (otherwise) runs like new. Total hours 958, 6 or 8 belts in that time period. Anyone have any clues?

Additional note to original message: Massey Ferguson got back to our dealer and said they can't do anything to help. They don't know what's wrong and don't care to find out. The dealer said he can't do anything if MF can't. ....

Another post earlier this week was with someone breaking belts on a Landpride mower. My suggestion was to go to a different belt cord which is Kevlar. Belts are blue. I had trouble with cords breaking from the bending stresses. You can take the existing belt to a local Belt Supplier and get the correct size and length. In addition to different cord styles other belt compositions are available. Some belts are too stiff.
How are the belts breaking? (ie.Are the sides getting chewed up, backs breaking) ....
