I recently bought a gallon of Berryman's Carburetor & Parts cleaner to clean out a carburetor for a rebuild. I knew the EPA had forced all the effective chemical parts cleaners off the market but I had no idea how bad todays cleaners are. In the old days a parts dip would clean everything really clean, but the Berryman's stuff was nearly worthless. It wouldn't take off venturi soot after a 24 hour soak and barely cut through the oil buildup on the outside of the carb.<br>

Are there any effective parts dips available to consumers anymore? What do you guys use?

when was the last time you changed the fluid and filter? sometimes it will act up if there is old fluid and a dirty filter. If it's been a while and over due I'd start there.

Anyone know for sure if the myth that running a hydr at low engine speed (RPM) will damage the pump in the long run? I was always under the assumption that you should always keep the RPMs up or if you lug it you will overheat the pump. I have a bx2200 and usually run it close to 3/4 or open when working hard. Can anyone put this myth to bed for me once and for all? Jim

I've decided to erect two walls inside the barn to make a 20'X 20'X 10' workshop. It will have a sliding door so I can drive my tractor with FEL and 3PT snowblower inside for work. I'm told I'll need about 17,000 BTU to heat the space. Pretty much decided on electrical. Looking at a Dayton G73 and a Fahrenheat unit from Northern Tool. The specs and the pictures appear identical. The Dayton costs 25% more. Is it worth the extra $$?

NH warranty (at least as far as my 2002 TC33D goes): It is a 2 year "bumper to draw-bar" (my terminology) warranty--in fact NH sent me a letter the other day stating I "can see my dealer about an extended warranty".

I don't know about our neighbors to the North, but Oneace is correct when it comes to cars and tractors---and anything else sold by an independent dealer, which dealers are (excluding corporate dealers/stores if any). Generally there is no implied or expressed "contract" between the dealer and the buyer. And technically it's not even a contract between the maker and the dealer (just try to get the "contract" enforced when something goes wrong). Even the selling dealer isn't required to repair the item he sold (with certian legal exceptions)--again, no "contract". However, it is usually in his best interest to do so even if he does take a loss. And as far as "loss" goes, that's an old management trick they use on the employees to justify not handing out raises. If dealers took a loss on warranty work there simply would be no "Service Departments", and for that matter no dealers in general.

For the record I'm a business owner and I DON'T treat my people that way---but I have worked for those who did.

Back to the sales tax thing. Here in Michigan, (with some exceptions) we to pay MI sales tax on things we buy even from outside our state and use or bring here, including through the mail or even thru the internet. My dealer said that if I tell him I'm a farmer he would waive the sales tax BUT if he gets audited or I do, I will have to pay. So I played it safe and paid the 6% up front. As a business I get credit for sales tax.

If you are concerned with a smaller footprint; I would suggest a John Deere 4115 with a folding ROPS which will provide good hp for rotary cutting and most other tasks but may fall short pulling out trees of any size. If you can go larger, I would suggest the John Deere 4310 or 4410 with eHydro and folding ROPS and 430 loader. Just stay away from the back blading with these compact tractors and you should not have any problems.

I am interested in a backhoe for my 4500. Dealer says they have new model, 448, which is replacing 48. Anyone know anything about them? Also I'm not sure about the ability of this hoe. I now have a worn out Emco (Ford 4500 4x4 converted by Emco company) backhoe, has 24's all around with a 15' reach on the hoe. Great machine but can't get in small places and leaves marks. Just worried if the 48/448 will do most jobs I now use the Emco for. Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Having tranmission (hydrostatic) problems. Have found the neutral valve, high pressure relief valves but can't locate the two check valves as showen in the service manual. Any help or advice in this situation would help.

Well dealer returned her again on friday and I haven't moved it. I brake-kleened and wiped dry the underside (had some "grease" type residue left for some reason this time as well...) and now that I know it is totally dry, will check periodically for leaks.

Looking back now I feel a little bad using the title "extremely disappointed in Deere", because I really am happy with the machine overall. Only little gripe might be the loader power, which seems a little under what it could be. But then again I have run big stuff for years, so I may expect too much.

After months of pricing and comparing I finally decided on the TZ24DA instead of the JD 2210 and Kubota BX2230. I was amazed at the "beef" of this little monster compared to the competition. As many on this forum have suggested, you have to sit on the tractor to know which you like best and the dealer is a large part of the equation. New Holland is very aggressive with their marketing right now and their price couldn't be matched! A special promotion allowed 30% on order and the balance in 12 months. Blue sure is beautiful!

Well my caretaker took the tractor out to dig a sump hole today and quickly fell through the sod up to the frame. Got real stuck. I guess the wetland/swamp extends much farther than we thought. Our plan was to dig a sump hole to pump water out from. Plan 2?

Run the loader and backhoe at whatever engine speed makes them work best for you.
To high of engine speed can make the loader/backhoe to fast and hard to control.
To low RPM makes them work slow.
My loader I run anywhere from idle to full throttle and anywhere in between, depending on what I'm doing at the time.
My backhoe works best for me around 2100 RPM, so thats where I use it most of the time.

What did the notification by Kubota consist of?? Did they offer to replace the defective part? How about labor? I am not the first owner of this machine so I don't know if the original owner was notified by Kubota or not. What has Kubota's history been on replacement of defective parts? Are you a Kubota dealer? I had the opportunity to buy a machine for about the same price that was 4 years newer, but had 2000 hours on it and I chose to buy the older machine with much less use. Maybe I made the wrong decision. Thanks for responding to my e-mail. I would greatly appreciate any insight you can give me about this issue.

Hi Guys,

I have the 4100 which is identical to the 4110, just a few years older. I love it to death, it has performed flawlessy for me thus, far and I havent even scratched the surface of what i want to do...I'm pretty much covered on attachments as well, and have found money (a lot) to be saved by shopping around and using the sponsers on this site. I have Mid west rakes, aerators, First choice tiller, Green Mfg PHD, Frontier RB, and Paynes fron forks (on the way). I find the Deere prices for Frontier, out of whack overall. I'm not looking to put somebody elses kid through college LOL....You have many, many choices that are good!!
