I don't know why everyone that buys a Deere tractor here raves about the brake petals being on the other side. I had a retired farmer in here that never ran the older Deere tractors letter series after he bought the first hand clutch one. I didn't know how he felt about it until I tried to sell him a Farmall with the left hand brakes. He said that he didn't enjoy the old JD and neither did any of the hired help want to run it. He said it was different then everyone else was used to and proved to be that way. That was why he was in my yard. I listen to people talk about using the brakes to steer (like the big farmers do!?) unfortunatly they don't do that anymore nor have they for about 20 or thirty years, today they count on the manuverability of the tractor that is built into the tractor to turn especcially with a loader on. Brake steer is not what it used to be with the older tractors where it was nearly a nesseity and only done on two wheel drives. Some manufacturers just don't need to do it and it isn't an excepted practice at all with a four wheel drive tractor under normal day to day use! PERIOD!

If the metal hasn't stretched too far you could possibly get it back into position enough with a hammer and dolly to use body filler. With excessive stretching there are ways to shrink the metal somewhat but that takes an experienced autobody guy.<br>

At $250 for a new hood, it's probably a relatively cheap alternative if you want a good looking result.<br>

Does anyone have one of these hoes? thinking about one for my bx2200 kubota,this hoe in there lit picture mounts to the frame,and has a subframe ,looks a lot like a bx22/23 copy! vs. a 3-point mount. any info would be great,thanks craig.

That is a fabulous price for the BX. If I had just an acre to work and the land wasn't rough as a cob, I would stop right there.

Although I don't live in Alabama, it is refreshing to here a story of a dealer rep that is concerned enough to go out of his way to make sure you are taken care of. Thanks for the good message.

Although my dealer's corporate staff should all be fired, the sales guy took good care of me and still did. When my aux light kit showed up, he came out to my place to install it. He did this since it was supposed to be installed at time of purchase (note: see comment about the corporate staff). He tries hard and I think they'd be in trouble if not for him.

I like my 990. It's a real brute. With 40HP I can brush hog 2'-3' grass high going up a steep hill without missing a beat. The quick attach for the bucket and the FEL itself is--err, well--quick. I also experienced the problem Yerbyra reports--the engine got fuel starved with a quarter tank still left because the fuel line is poorly positioned for working nose down on hills. It gave me fits but now that I know the problem I just keep the tank filled. I also think that it comes down to whether you need hydro or can deal with gears and dealer availability and quality. Price was also a consideration for me. The 990 gives you a reliability and solid value for the $$. I have had gear tractors for 10 years. I admit to thinking of a getting shuttle shift/power reverer setup next time around whenever I am working a snow bank or doing a lot of quick back and forth work.

I think the Jinma 354 would be all the tractor you would need. Go with a reputable dealer like Harryg says and you will get all your projects done and keep alot more money in your pocket. No they are'nt the quality of some of the others but they are very heavy built and powerful. I've owned a Jinma going on 3 years and have put around 250 hours on it and it looks and runs as good as new. The first year or so I was always wondering when it would just collapse into a pile of junk like some people would have you think.....so far its been much better then expected.
This has been the only thing thats stopped it.

We have Mexican, Jamaican and Haitian labourers at the farm, I hire them on occaissionally to help with big jobs, like we have going now cleaning up after floods from the left-overs of the hurricanes coming through.

They all work very hard, mind you though, we're VERY fussy about who we hire.

They're a bunch of hard-working people trying to make a better life for their families.

They also can't believe how much they get paid and how easy the work is, compared to what they'd be doing back home.

I have a 5" CCM tiller on my 790. Good price and heavy duty constuction. Gear driven rather than chain drive. I have a one bottom plow that I use. I really don't know if it could handle anything bigger.

Thanks for the prompt response.

I guess I need to get a parts book for both models and do a comparison. Seems to me that the M4900 will have some sort of mechanical or electronic limiter to prevent the RPM from going above the max rated for that model. Traditionally, from a wear and stress standpoint, the lower Rs on a tractor would seem like a good idea, but with a 5 cylinder engine, spinning it up a bit more would not seem to be a problem.

That is just a heavy duty 3" pump in a specialized floating frame.

A 3" trash pump will work just fine, if you want to go bigger than that, or if you don't expect to need to use it very often, you might want to look into renting one. The other pump you have is all you need for the agitation line, a 1" or bigger hose with a strong stream spray is more than enough to loosen the material and get into suspension.

If you can find, or even borrow, a small irrigation pump from a farmer in the area they work really well too, then you can justify the tractor even more.
