All the above advice is good, so I won't add much. It's kinda like riding a bicycle, all of a sudden you just figure it out. Tell all the Johhny Dogooders who are watching over your shoulder giving you a constant banter of advice to go have a couple beers and leave you alone, they'll just make a nervous wreck out of you. As said above just go slow and easy, and don't worry about not doing a pro job right away. Have a good time with your new hoe. Frank.

Winter blend in ND probably is straight #1. It gets -30F here too and straight #1 plus an all-in-one additive has prevented and problems. Pump lubricant likely produces adequate lubrication. I've heard cloud points of -25F for #1 diesel. I think of kerosene as the expensive stuff that smells less when it's burnt in lamps.

My oil dealer says that anti-gel doesn't turn summer #2 into #1 and it will gel when it's really cold. I usually make my own winter blend by starting to top up the tank with #1 around October. The trouble is that there's no such thing as off-road winter blend diesel around here. I'd risk ending up with a full tank of #2 and find myself in a December cold snap otherwise. For taxed fuel users, it's good to start asking what blend a station is pumping around November depending on how much fuel is used. Low volume stations may not get a delivery of winter blend till it's really cold.

I just sold my Landpride RTA1550 tiller and bought a KingKutter 72" tiller at TSC for $1174 on sale w/slip clutch.The main reason was to cover the tire tracks.
I had to tighten the chain 3 times on the landpride in 2 years,you could hear it slaping,other wise it was a good
tiller.I have put on about 8 hours on the KingKutter and the only problem I had was the gear case cover bolts
came loose. I have hit big rocks,stumps,roots and the
tines have never bent just put small nicks in them.
I have been very impressed with this tiller....just wish I
had more power now..don't we all?

Great new pictures! looks like you realy have been playing too much!! Your right, alot of thought should go into what to buy. In my case I should of thought about moving to where I have my tractor before I ordered the 10 yards of top soil yesterday. I need to fill in spots and cover stumps in my dads yard so I can get planting with some grass before fall/winter. I moved about 5 yards by hand this afternoon (now I cant move) All the time I was saying to myself, "DAMM, Why am I here and my tractor is not! One gets spoiled with a loader quickly.

I have slopes on my property from a raised field that are between 30 and 45 degrees. I mow the lawn weekly with a 7800 and it does a fine job. Not sure what your Kubota dealer was reacting to. You do need space at the bottom of the slopes to safely turn the tractor. I have mowed close to a 30 degree angle on a side slope, just testing the pucker alarm. Pucker alarm works fine.

I always mow with the FEL off. The FEL will raise the center of gravity. Also, the added weight of the FEL on the front tires increases the damage to the lawn when turning.

I have Rim-Guard filled rear tires. Liquid in the rear tires lowers the center of gravity, since the center of gravity of the liquid is below the rear axle. Ballasted tires are only filled to the top of the rim so there is still an air pocket in the tire.

My auxiliary lights are ROPS mounted (without drilling or modifying the ROPS) and gimbal mounted so they can be rotated up-down/ and 180 degrees from front to back. Seemed real usefull when I did it, I have never rotated the lights. They get used for work with the FEL or when plowing snow at night.

2-55watt halogens, plenty of light for what I use them for.

You're going to love your 45hp hydrostat. I was not interested in hydrostat transmission tractors until I drove a TC45 with loader. The tilt wheel, swivel suspended seat, and superb fine control of ground travel sold me. You can set them up perfectly for efficient operator motion. I have about 20 hours of time on mine. Invest in a good box blade though. I've borrowed an old Gannon from a neighbor. It's industrial duty, has the roll-over scarifiers, and is bad medicine on the hard clay on my property. The teeth are set about 8" below the blade ( need to raise them) but the 45hp tractor pulls them OK with some lift feathering.

jchad, don't know if you've started this project yet or not, but I just wanted to caution you about cutting a "v-ditch" on a very steep slope. Water needs very little grade before it starts doing it's thing (work)--or maybe in your case, cutting. Once you start that process with your ditch, water running at steep grade will take over.

I think there's some good suggestions here for scoping things out. I just had an old timer (very knowledgeable) install some drainage above my driveway. He's been doing this work in this area for about 40 years and had a lot of good advice. We just (day after he installed two culverts and a drainage swale) got 3+" of rain in 24 hours. Had he not known what he was doing, I suspect the erosion that started this spring would have been much worse.

Not pretending to know your situation, just cautioning you that once water starts going, it really takes off. Might surprise you...

Are you willing to tolerate some minor leaks, do repairs yourself, are you mechanically inclined? The NH is the same price, does it have a FEL and BH? What kind of jobs are you using it for on the 25 acres?
If you are using the tractor for other chores and are rarely using the backhoe, check how difficult it is to remove the BH. The Jinma is a good tractor, the NH is a good tractor. How comfortable are you with dealer support from each? Good luck!

about 4 yrs ago I was same, if all possible go with the new equip, unless your mechanically inclined and have the tools to repair, I bought used and had tractor in and out ofshop from electical to pinion gear problems several times during a yr. As to implements check with neighbors I know a few here lent me theirs , york rake,brush hog etc until I could afford my own.

I've got a similar scene - 10 acres and small garden , I'm pretty happy with my TC33 with loader handles my 60" brush hog, tiller and snowblower fine. Depends if you got a lot of saplings to whack and how are you plowing with "2 bottom plow'; or tiller?

$Different strokes for different folks, in this case different ground types, LOL. I have had the best success, and the least damage, by keeping the boom as vertical as possible and getting under the shale and then using the bucket curl against the bottom of the hole to pry upwards. This usually fractures it enough that the loose material can be scooped out easily. When you run out of loose material repeat the first part again. Patience is critical, that or a REALLY big machine and just give'r ..... LOL Best of luck.$ Digging in Shale with Backhoe

Something you may want to check if the indicator light is not coming on. On my 2001 tc33 the switch that turns the indicator light on had a loose bolt and the switch fell down. This caused the lever not to hit the switch when the PTO was used. I just moved the switch back into place and tightened the bolt, then the indicator lights worked.

There are several bare areas in my yard in need of reseeding. Most of these areas are well shaded by hickory trees. The Eco-Lawn seed advertised on this site sounds interesting, but, not knowing much about grass seed in general, I wonder if anyone might know of something else more economical that might perform similarly. I am in the NE Tenn./SW Va. region (zone 6, I believe).<br>
