I actually found a place close to me that sells 45 cetane !!
I'll take that any day over 40 cetane. I doubt I have any 50 cetane stations near me however...

I see what you're saying.

When I managed a tire store we used to do a lot of work for the lowrider crowd. Those guys liked wheels with huge 8" negative offsets on their chevies, and they went through wheel bearings every 15k miles or so.

We are talking about a much smaller 2-2.5" negative offset on a tractor that is (hopefully) built quite a bit more rugged than your average chevy. Having rolled a tractor once, and knowing it's no fun, if it were my 2210 I would have no problem trading a few percent of bearing life for greater stability.

If the manual doesn't specifically address this issue you might ask your dealer for his opinions and maybe write JD as well. I can't see it being a problem, but YMMV.

I'll leave the real diesel advice to the experts but I was surprised that on this website it says that mercedes recommends a mix of 30% gasoline in diesel in very cold climates.

Murf, I think I got hit with a temporary case of the Hawiian Disease as well. My wife's father died last week and she had to fly to Germany to take care of his affairs. I am doing the "Mr. Mom" thing with our 3 daughters. It is only for 10 days but she is my BEST friend and I sure miss her. The Chief has been assigned duties washing laundry, cooking, driving to dance class & soccer practice, helping with home work, refereeing sibling battles, and house cleaning.

Being an ex-dirt-track racer, I use the same type of 5-gallon jug and funnel that we used to fuel the cars. The jugs have an easy to tote handle, sit up-right and have a large (3�) opening, with threaded cap (Very handy). The funnel is a �D-type� without the filter element. I believe the funnel mouth is about 12� to 14� diameter, so I rarely spill a drop.

As for the time between fill-ups, I get 2 full mowings plus some putz-ing around time on 5-gallons. So, I refill the jug every other week in the summer. Like AV8R, I�m getting somewhere between 14 and 16 Hours on 5-gallons.

I think we are all trying to understand some of the comments you make about NH.

My background is from the parts and service division of one of the "big 3" auto makers so I know exactly how that warranty system works and am trying to relate that knowledge to NH.

In the past, you have stated that dealers loose money several ways..(and I'm paraphrasing here) "NH will dispute the warranty claim and refuse to pay." and "dealers can't make any money doing warranty work."

Does NH not have any pre-set guidelines as to what repairs they will pay and what they won't, that they can come in and "refuse to pay?"

Also does the statement "Dealers can't make any money doing warranty work." mean, they do it for no compensation at all, or does it mean warranty work doesn't pay as well as customer pay work and/or the parts don't have any/or as big a mark up?

Before I make any further assumptions about NH or their dealers, I'd like to know the answers to these questions.

My John Deere GT245 manual states that if the engine is run under no load at high rpms it will surge just like you are stating because of emmission requirements. It says it will go away if the PTO is running or hydrostat is being used.

Also I had no luck finding a water filtering funnel or a strainer funnel for other contaminants.

The G5200 is an outstanding little tractor. I would love to have one! They are grass cutting kings. Run forever on a tank of fuel. A friend has one he got as a trade in for $800 but expect to pay much more than that for one in good shape.

I would not offer more than $1,500 personally. These machines I believe were made only in 1993. Art may be able to give some better info.

Ok now I know what you're aiming for Frank.

Given your background I can give you a design that will probably work better in wood than steel, but the design is for sound, not necesarily realistic appearance. Hardwoods work better than soft for some reason. The scale is what's imnportant, you can enlarge or reduce it to whatever size you desire. Send me an note and I'll fire it right off to you.

I'll keep looking, somewhere I've got the design for a steam ship's whistle, almost the same thing.

To fuel this debate I have a couple of questions.
1*My BX 23 manual don't say anything about adding anything to the diesel fuel.
2*If the truckers don't need to treat the diesel fuel for their rigs why does it need treated for a tractor.
