As best I can tell by my plant encylopedia they're bearded Irises. However, I thought Irises had bulb... this don't appear to be bulbs? They don't bloom well because there so thick. I'm gonna then them out this fall, but I'd like to get a positive ID on them.<br>

I thought I had a picture of them in bloom but can't locate it. Any help IDing them would be great. .. I've posted pic's of them: 1,2, and 3.

Day 11, but please remember I let the concrete cure for a full 7 days so in reality I am in day 4 of construction and I have over the years developed methods to allow me to build structures with out help in case you notice something that you are not familiar with, it is a special technique to do all without skilled help!

RHELLERJR, I do not know of any b/h made by ATVMotorsports, and I have some familiarity with most current 3pt backhoes out there. Can you provide any more info on it?

First thing you must do is get an operator's manual for the hoe, but more important, for the tractor. Your Shibara prob has some sort of gear trans with single or dual-stage clutch for turning the wheels and the PTO. You have to operate the clutch before shifting the PTO spd lever into one of the 3 positions from neutral. If you get a direct-drive PTO pump, you will probably use your 1000 RPM setting.

Backhoes on all tractors require counter-weight in the front of the machine. A loader or weights are the way this is done. You must have or get one of those. The moment (bending) forces placed on a tractor by a b/h (or loader for that matter) are so severe that they can break the casting or the bolts that hold the middle of the machine together. Also your Cat 1 top link is only a 3/4" pin that goes through a bracket with only 4 or 6 bolts holding it into the rear casing. I have never personally seen this kind of failure, but at least 3 tractor repair companies I know claim to have seen it, and I have seen some very interesting photos.

BTW, larger tractors (over 5-6K lb) with Cat 2 3pts don't
have the same problems with 3pt-mounted backhoes, I am told.

Needing some help/advice. Have a 2001 Agracat 2920 4x4, with a Y385 diesel engine made by a company called Yangdong Co. Ltd in China. I am at a total loss trying to find a dealership to work on this thing and/or to get correct replacement parts. The Yangdong Co. wouldn't sell parts directly to private party. Any suggestions on how to convince my local tractor dealership into working on something not theirs? And any clue where to get correct replacement parts? I'm located approx 45 miles SW of Houston, Tx. if anyone knows of a good dealer or parts supplier any and all help would be much appreciated.

Thats only a couple of inches per side of additional offset so it should be fine. My guess is the life of the front wheel bearings may be shortened by a few percent worst case.

I will say this. With the TC 30 you can have a front mount blower and a fell. and it only takes about 5 mins to switch if that long.

I have a 4410 with a 72" MMM that I use to cut the yard occasionally. It makes a nice cut appearance but the machine is just too large and unwieldy. The ROPS bar makes it very difficult to cut near bushes and trees. I would think you will run into the same issue with the 4115 but not nearly as much. The 4210 is underpowered for its size and cost and I would strongly recomend the 4310 or 4410 shold you decide to go large. These machines will definitely handle the snow blowing, but not be so hot at lawn mowing which involves many obstacles and trimming. The 4110 is a much more adept at the mowing part but you will still encounter problems with size and the ROPS but not nearly as much. The 4110 has a shorter wheel base but not as much hp as the 4115. Probably the best of both worlds would be the 4310 and a LT/GT of some type. I use a Deere F525 to cut the lawn and the 4410 for cutting about 8 acres of pasture and trails. Your budget and size considerations will be most likely drive this decision.

Try running a slightly tighter spring on the engine govenor. I had a 3.5 hp B&S that did this as well as not reving up to a reasonable rpm. I clipped a couple of coils from the spring and reinstalled it. This did the trick BUT be very careful doing this as you can cause the engine to over rev. under no load conditions. It is a matter of trial and error until you get it the way you want it. Of coures, this will void your warranty if it still is under warranty. In that case take it back to get it fixed.

One advantage to having a smaller tractor(NH TZ24DA), my ROPS is only 72 - 73". My problem is low hanging tree branches, I have broken several. This fall I need to do a lot of tree trimming.

Nature vs nurture sure is a complicated subject. A simple view is that we are born with very general capabilities and tendencies, but it's experience that makes for specific reactions to specific situations. Anything we experience never really goes away, it just becomes part of us and how we react. Nurture, especially during early years is a particularly important part of experience, and it can be good, bad or just inadequate for the situations in which persons later finds themselves.

The important point is that while nothing really goes away, the bad, the inadequate and also good parts of it can get diluted or concentrated by choices we make in later life. We get better at bringing what we can do to what we face and we also get better at picking our situations. We also can choose situations where what we can do is an advantage. The good news is that nothing is cast in stone and we get to choose a lot about what we are and what we do. The difficult part is making choices that keep making us better. The bad part of experience can be concentrated as well as diluted.

Bad experience can create 'tape loops' for us. We always react to the same thing in the same way, and those reactions may not be what we do well or help us at all--got to learn to step around those situations. I carry my own load of anger for my own reasons. I've learned that venting my spleen makes me feel better but doesn't do anything for anybody else. I can be right as rain at least in my own mind but my anger is my own thing. I didn't necessarily choose it but it's mine to manage. It does help me do some things as long as I don't dump it on others who may be just innocent bystanders. I've learned to do things in ways that don't keep playing those tape loops.

The choices I've made also are realistic for me. I'm an ordinary person and just an educated hick. I'd never be a pro athlete, movie-star lover or command a boardroom, and I'd give myself a bad time if I were stuck with those goals. I did find a career, played competitive sports as an adult and eventually found a life partner. Took awhile but it's eventually happy making stuff. WE GET TO MAKE CHOICES AND DON'T SWEAT THE NATURE STUFF.

Thanks for all the replies so far - very informative. I'll only be managing about 2 active acres, so even the BX23 may be overkill vs. something even smaller plus occasional Bobcat rentals. But if I have a capable machine, I'll do more of what I want: clearing and landscaping, slinging logs and boulders, regrading the gravel driveway regularly. I'm also getting too old to shovel snow, and these TLs apparently have the power to push anything we get in MA even w/o a blower.

Compaction is a real issue, so I'd planned on turf tires and being careful to drive over dry or frozen ground. That might rule out the CK25 or CK30 as much as the extra cost. The big attraction of the CK20 over the BX23 is the huge increase in load capacity, if the specs are true - about double. I'd be able to use a 24" bucket for lifting out small trees and large shrubs, plus scooping lots of soil from places the loader won't reach. How do they get so much more lifting power from the same engine HP?

Will appreciate your further opinions - might be a few months before I have the cash to buy something.
