Would like to know what pattern and tourque to replace Head on John Deer 855

I think you will find that the kubota price is just for the valves and hoses. The top link and tilt link cylinders and hoses will be priced seperately. I rolled my own on my B2710 using a Prince SV 3-spool valve with CCM top link and TCC side link cylinders. Total cost came to about $900. Best tractor investment I have made.

The only place your turfs will show poor traction is in serious mud. The R-4 is only slightly better in mud than the turf.

The only tire that operates in serious mud is the R-1/AG tire.

Chains on the turfs can help in goopy conditions and for winter conditions I would rather have the turfs than the other two.

I'm a new guy here, but I need help ! I've got a B7300HST and my 3 point won't go up or down, where do I start looking ? It's got fluid, was working fine. It got to where it would only work at higher rpm, now not at all.<br>

I received some great pricing help from some on this forum with regards to an 88' JD1050. I did purchase the machine and everything is working well. I was just wondering, due to some known clutch issues, should I "lock" the clutch pedal down once I am done using it for the day to keep the discs apart or is this a poorly informed practice? Thanks. <br>

Congratulations! Hope you took some pics while it was clean. Here's two PM tips. Crawl under the machine with some nylon zip ties and make sure that all the wiring harnesses are tucked up high and tight. When working in tall woody brush they have been somewhat prone to catching in the brush and being damaged. Also, keep an eye on the battery area in front of the radiator. On hot days it may outgas some and eventually cause corrosion in that area. You might ask your dealer for a remote-vent battery cap to vent the battery gas under the tractor.

Maybe the "tractor gods" know something about the "free lunch" concept.

Bananas are cheap in central america. They cost a little more in Texas and you need a bank loan to buy them in some parts of Alaska. No-brainer. Same with tractors and other commercial goods.

Your post about saving 300 bucks on a 20,000 dollar, cross country tractor deal is a perfect example. Why bother? Some of us have seen this sort of thing so often that we can tell you the outcome before you ask.

You are still going to need fluids, filters and dealer support. And you will probably end up with regionally produced implements that have no dealer or warranty support this side of the mississippi.

In the end you will likely pay more than if you bought locally. No free lunch.

Please understand. I am NOT demeaning you.

I get ticked at the guys who should know better. That is the guy on the east coast who is trying to sell you something, knowing you are 3000 miles away. The reason the prices are higher in California is that your local dealer has to pay to have the damn thing shipped and so do you.

That said, I can tell you how you can save a little money from your location. But you will spend a lot of time and throw the dice on dealer support with my idea too.

Anyway, stick around. You are clearly an independent, critical thinker who will be an asset to the board.

Simplicity does offer a 27hp diesel in the new XL model Legacy. Whatever you do, I would definitely recommend staying with a diesel.

Grasgod, I was just completely frustrated by the situation. I'm finishing up a Masters Degree this fall so I just don't have much extra time. So when I lost the available time, I was pretty mad. I finally got the tractor last night. It's missing the light kit option, but they'll come out to my place to install that when it arrives. It's also missing the weight bucket for the rear. I can deal with that as I have a box blade for counterweight. I'm very happy with the tractor once it showed up. Extremely happy. It's a mowing machine!!

I'm one of those people that expects a certain minimum level of competance from people who have jobs. I've been working for pay since I was 14 and I know how to take care of customers both internal and external. It's really not that difficult.If you do your business right, you can sell 50 utility tractors for every combine you sell. You can make more profit and more importantly, you have 50x the opportunity for paid service work. Big picture opportunities is not a difficult concept. At least one would think that...

We're practically neighbors; we are about 8 miles South of Emory. Its my understanding the DK50 has been dropped, I never saw one of them but did look at the DK45 and DK55. I really had my mind set on the DK65 or similar tractor in the same size. I dealt with Canton Tractor, which is on
I-20 at Highway 64. They have a number of tractors in stock or can get them within a few days. So far my experience with them has been good. Only had the tractor just about 2 weeks, but like it, and it does what I want it to so far. You might want to price a new 45 or 55 as a basis for judging the value of the 50 you looked at. Sounds like a pretty good deal though. Good Luck.

As grinder and Muft point out the size of the project depends on the volume of water, what's in it, the soil type and climate. All those things should be factored in, and codes aside, it is good to perc leechate of through at least 3' of soil before it get to the water table (further if much muck is involved).

The septic system we just retired was a pit construction with a small cedar timber primary tank. It worked for about 40-years before some cedar logs across the top gave way. Our modern usage of the system probably hastened its demise since the tanks likely were full up to the logs a fair bit of the time. Contrary to code, both tanks were covered with vapour barrier to stop surface water going into the tanks. Even so the capacity probably wasn't enough for the original users since a small leech line system was added to the pit. That's something that can be done later if necessary.

In my pit construction I mentioned an outer course of cement blocks. I realize now that they aren't usually needed. I was thinking about adding several courses above grade to simplify constructing our raised pit. Figured it would reduce soil invasion into the stone when mounding it up. Didn't have enough extra blocks and didn't do it.

It'd be good to put the sensor on the hot side of the thermostat though. Otherwise the gauge wouldn't read hot if the thermostat stuck closed.

Yes, I always learn more by asking questions than by supplying answers. I see that the seal thing would work both ways if an intake valve wasn't completely seating. A doggy valve would affect performance but that could be gradual and not noticed. If the seal type were boots that slipped over the end of the valve guides they can crack off and the oil burning could be noticed suddenly.

I believe that diesels don't draw as much oil down worn guides as gas engines due to lower intake manifold vacuums so a diesel wouldn't have the puff of blue smoke after coasting down a hill like gas engines. Sounds like a good thing to check. I'd also note how much oil is under the cover. I have heard of engines where the oil feed line broke off or a plug at the and of the rocker-arm shaft came out and put a lot of oil under the cover.

I believe this scenario also indicates that the guides and maybe valves may be in need of some attention--especially if the engine has high hours.
