If it really is a 6-cylinder, then it is some kind of conversion. You rally need to find some 8N guys like the 8N/9N forum at ytmag.com

I've seen V8 conversions, but can't recall a 6 cylinder. I imagine that a really nicely done one would be worth comparable to a stock 8N; around here, $2000-$3500. Just a wild guess.

Supplies for 3130HST from dealer (with the super UDT as recommented) came to a little over $300, but the free labor is just a series of simple one-two-three steps not much more involved than changing oil in car.<br>

You'll need 10 mm allen wrench and 27, 24, 19 and 14 mm wrenches or sockets for the current midel 3130HST.<br>

Being a little paranoid about volume of xmission/hydro fluid, I made sure I had two of the 15-quart oil drain pans (with a pour spout) plus another little pan had lying around. no problem. pending disposal, pour old oil back into containers the new oil came in.<br>

Hearing horror stories about pouring 5-gallon cans of fluid, I sprung for $6 for an extra "dain" pain, but used it solely to transfer fluid from can to tractor. Pour two or three gallons into the pan and then just pour it into a funnel that has a a long flexible tube. A little extra motion, but no strain and no fuss. No need to worry about going through tool box or such and you don't have to hold up a heavy, cumbersome bucket for what seems like hours while the fluid drains slowly into the tractor.<br>

Have seen earlier posts about amount of fluid on dip stick. Mine came up to the fill mark at just under 10 gallons. per instructions, I'll fire her up tomorrow for a few minutes and then top off.<br>

The only glitch (and I'm not sure it's a glitch) is my front axle housing started overflowing through the "check" hole with only four quarts put pack in, instead of the 7 the book says. I closed it up and added another quart, but still have only 5 in it now. The manual says "fill with the new oil up to the check plug port." But it appears to take only 4 quarts to accomplish that.<br>

Yes that is true. Any time you finance something weather it be a tractor or a car it costs more. The dealer has to pay a processing fee for your credit app. $21000 is a great deal on that tractor. Actually $21700 is a great deal.

I use the John Deere 15W-40 Plus 50 synthetic blend in both my 4410 and Cummins. Even used it in my Sea Ray and Nissan. All 4 engines love it. ;o) I buy it by the 55 gallon drum so it cost me about $1.29 per quart. Seems to hold up well and handles soot very well.

Have you verified that the 3 pt. hitch drop valve below the seat is in the full OPEN position? (usually turned full counter clockwise) If this is the cause, you can adjust it back in from the full open position to get the hitch drop rate you want. I don't think the 955 had an inline rockshaft valve filter like the early 4000 and 4000 Ten Series tractors had but might not be a bad idea to check. If this filter is clogged, it can cause this problem.

It has the detent position that you have to push joystick past and then it stays there until you pull it back. Also the loader has a diagram sticker on the loader frame showing the position/operation of loader. full forward/detent is supposed to be "float". Anyone know of problems with float on CK20 w/loader?

I have been looking at a 3830 DT with 723 loader my best price so far has been $18,100.00. Does anyone have a feel for how this pricing stacks up? My concern is that at the end of the month with intrest rates going up and steel price going up also. <br>

Frank, the inside steel works great for a shop. Two of my friends recently set theirs up and they couldn't be happier. I would put steel horizontally on the rafter ties with some insulation above it. Keep the "attic space" well vented. The volume you'll have to heat is much reduced. Venting will keep you cooler in the summer too.

For smoke extraction I mounted a double squirrel cage fan high on one wall. This fan works wonderfully because it's almost totally quiet. It extracts almost 1000 cfm of air and you hardly know it's on. You almost need earplugs for a circular barn fan of the same CFM.

I'd guess around $13-13.5k for the package. To get a more accurate price you might add up the MSRP of everything, subtract 10-15% since that's about what you could buy it for new, then subtract another 10-15% or so because it's used.

The Curtis blade is likely to be your best option, both for availability and cost. My brother had an 855 for several years and I remember him saying that his only front blade options were heavy-duty "dozer" type blades with sub-frame attachment. I do not recall too many specifics, but I seem to recall him saying it was going to cost a couple thousand $. The newer, smaller JD CUTS and garden tractors have front hydraulic and quick-hitch attachments for front blades that are more in the $1,000 range and suitable for snow and light materials. I think the older dozer type blades were designed more for contruction work, which is a bit of overkill for snow.

I did have the box on when trouble was noticed but problem persists with nothing on the hitch. All hydraulic connections appear to be tight and without leaks. Their are no abrasions, bruises or kinks in any of the hoses. Fluid level is where it should be. It seems to me to be valve related.
