Congrats on your new purchase, sounds like you made a good choice. The guys here sometimes get carried away with the toys and accessories.

You may however want to add the little mud flaps. I didn't and have stone chips behind the rear wheels and chips in the chrome step bar. The Firestones pick-up and hold tiny roadside size stones.

The seats are ergonomic meaning they are like a wooden church pew. The seats do break in a little after about 35,000 miles or so, that or callouses have formed.

I've got a Woods 306 3-point PTO finishing mower. I bought it used and wasn'table to run it for 1.5 years due to tractor PTO being broken. My problem is one of the blades is not tight and so it spins independantly of it's shaft. Hence no cutting action. I've tried to get the blade bolt out, but struggle with holding the pulley so I can get the bolt undone. I did manage to hold the pully using improvised pins and a steel bar, but I was still unable to get the large bolt to budge even with holding on to the deck and using my leg against the wrench. Any ideas? I have no idea if the bolt was cross-threaded with an impact wrench or how it was assembled. I'm assuming it's right-hand thread. Any help would be appreciated.

In the end, I agreed with Murf and returned the Easy Hitch system. I found that by getting angry and frustrated with the implement, I get a rush of adreneline which allows me to muscle it into place quite quickly. If I try to remain calm, it takes far longer...

I think I got away with it. It's been five months now and the battery is working just fine. The new BatteryMinder trickle charger keeps it topped off just great.

If you go the spray-in route you might consider Line-X over Rhino liner. Line-X is harder and a lot more slippery than Rhino. Rhino has a rubbery tack to it. But either will be spendy compared to a DIY job.

I'm leaving for God's Lake Manitoba tomorrow through the weekend. I was on the same trip two years ago and you basically get worn out bringing in Northern pike all day. Walleyes are plentiful too.

I wouldn't worry about ULSD too much. There are HUGE legacy issues (existing engines out there) that mush be addressed with any change in fuel formulation. Backwards compatibility is a must considering an average engine life of at least 20 years. The trucking industry has a powerful lobby. Any legistlature would surely take legacy issues into consideration.

If it's a mechanical position-control 3ph the linkage may be bent or so far out of adjustment that the hitch stays in lift mode. That would be likely if the 3ph fully raises as soon as the tractor starts and there's a relief valve sound when the 3ph stops raising. In that case it might leak down fairly slowly when the tractor is off. If it lifts only when the 3ph liver is moved the poppet valve may be stuck. The thinking would be a bit different if it has draft-control or another type hitch.

Beagle thanks for the compliment. The cub was my father's he bought it new in 1953. When I was seven years old my brother took the tractor out when my parents were'nt home. I was standing on the mower deck he popped the clutch and I fell off and under the left rear wheel. I broke my collar bone and had a collapsed lung. About 5 years ago I restored the tractor and gave it back to my dad for fathers day. The large hopper is a side dresser it is for applying fertilizer not many originals still exist because the fertilizer ate through the metal. IH eventually made the hoppers out of plastic. Hardwood sounds like you are enjoying your hoe as much as I am. Keep playing I mean working yeah working with those toys I mean tractors.

I've been in on doing that a time or two with a snow bucket on a large farm tractor. It turns into a real mess, concreet truck driver get irritated from waiting, sometimes they charge for time too. I agree a pumper is pricey, but probably your best chioce. Frank.

For clarification: If you use Deere credit, (or any of them) they file a lien in the county in which you live, so if you default on the loan, they can reclaim the tractor.

If you can arrange an unsecured line of credit, or pay cash, you avoid the potential tax liability.

The arms are definitely jammed in the up position! The tractor has been sitting for two days now and that should have relieved all the hydraulic pressure and in the past the arms would drift to the lowered position. I'll let you know what the service shop finds out!
