I just traded in a B6100E (2wd) with 600 hours in very good running shape for $1800 toward a new L3130. The price on the new tractor was a very good one so this is probably a good base value in south Texas.

In April I had some estimates done for sveral projects around the house, mostly drainage projects and a footer for a wrap around porch. All requiring a backhoe. The total of all estimates was around $10,000.00. I decided to buy my own hoe for my TC33D and do the work myself. The hoe cost $4995.00, I just finished the 3rd of 4 projects yesterday with a total cost of about $5500.00 including hoe and materials. I still have to do the footer but at this time the hoe has already paid for itself. The estimate for the 3 projects completed was $6200.00. I also had alot of fun playing I mean working with the hoe.

Anyone have good or bad experience with this particular cutter-BH 278? For an 8'er it,s unusual in that it has 2 instead of three gearboxes(so it can be offset, but as I understand it doesn't have to be) My local BH dealer says he has never stocked or sold one...<br>
I'm also considering Rhino TW96, Bush Hog 3008 and JD MX8- any feedback on these?

Glad to hear the DK65 is working well, local dealer just got one in and I'm planning to go down there next week and check on it. Planning to get the DK65C with FEL, 7' cutter and 8' tiller. Probably get hay spear as well, but may wait and get an after-market item. Sure would appreciate any insights anyone may have that haven't been discussed on the forum.

Have you tried moving the lever to the down position and push them down by hand?

Many times new stuff is stiff. These are usually gravity operated and just need a little push.

Just a after thought here. B 4 U replace waterpumps, As TomG said check drive belt condition and tension. What is the condition of the lower radiator hose? Does it retain its shape when hot? had it been cut on the interior by a overtightened hose clamp and part of the inside rubber peeled away blocking the line?

In a ideal world the 2 would be perfect.

The new guy on the assembly line doesn't know which part bin to pull from.

Parts ran out of stock on the correct dipstick and the stock room subistuted something close.

Someone in translations mixed up liters and qts.

Someone swapped them on the lot to be funny.

Check the lenght of the dip stick against the manfactures newest part listings for your model and serial #.

Over fill is very bad anywhere. Underfill is bad if you operate on slopes.

How many yards of mix do you have to do? Thinking about my back even with the loader I would not want to mess with anything more than 4 or so yards.

Just did a floor 22 yards with 8 good intentioned men, not many with any experience or they would not have volunteered, it was just about right for all the wheeling and screeding and doing stuff the hard way. A good contractor could have done it with 3

The tractor will be slow and you will get slop. You will have to have extra bodies for grunt work. How much extra is the concrete truck on an extended delivery?

A hour of pump time at $2.50 a minute sounds cheap and much easier on the back to me.

I'd expect the Northern valves identified as PB types would have two return ports. Single return port types may or may not be PB rated, but I'd assume they aren't.

The PB issue has to do with how much pressure the exhaust oil galleys on single return types are designed to withstand. Operating a single return type opens the exhaust port to a line that goes to the input of a downstream valve. If the downstream valve (e.g. the 3ph) is in lift mode, the upstream valve exhaust galley sees the full working pressure. The return ports of many single return types are intended to go directly to the reservoir and high pressure can't be developed unless an obstruction were present. Two return port types separate the PB and cylinder exhaust flows.

A curiosity with single return types in PB applications is that if an upstream and downstream valve is operated at the same time, exhaust oil from the upstream valve moves the downstream cylinder, which may or may not be desirable. The working pressure is the total of both loads.

I think JD sometimes does have a languish of their own--sometimes it catches on and sometimes not. I have a JD manual that refers to a governor adjustment it calls 'speed droop.' I don't know how common the term 'speed droop' is.

Buy yourself a PTO hydro pump and hook your backhoe into the PTO pump. Hook your frontloader back up the way it is suppose to be run. Problem solved. running your backhoe off your loader requires special plumbing. PTO fix is a simpler solution.

I have a KR M03-60 rear finish mower and although all indications say it is made by Kioti, it is made in ITALY. I'm impressed with the mower, though. Very well made.

The new BX 2230 has a drink holder in the left fender now all I need is a place for a few tools! I like the idea of maybe a tool belt on the back on the seat or as Barnee recommends on the FEL. Kubota now needs to make a handy tool holder for a few basics.

I am going to be placing the 4600tractor (262 Hours now), landpride grooming mower model FDR2574 and Landpride Rear Blade model RB2596 for sale locally and wanted to see if anyone had some helpful input as to the asking price. I currently have a Kubota HS5700 (21 hp). I live in VT so snowfalls can be quite large and frequent. My driveway is 2100' and all uphill. Are there any manufactures that make fork mount plows other than Curtis ? I've also been told not to go larger than 5' due to snow weight. I keep thinking whats 1 more foot, it just 6" each side.

I guess the answer to your question could be yes but it will depend on how hard your soil is. The bucket edge itself being smooth can use advantages when available. If the ground is really hard packed, I would suggest a tooth bar to breakup the hard soil first, then remove the tooth bar and grade with the smooth edge of the bucket...or actually a box blade with teeth rippers will help as well..
These attachments are relatively inexpensive as well but very useful in hard soil and for grading jobs...If you dont like the dealers prices on attachments, look at Corriher that advertises on this site..

Followup to my original post. Stopped by my dealer this A.M. & explained the problem to them. The parts counter guy immediately said it was either a defective neutral or parking brake switch. He called a mechanic from the back and asked him to go with me to another L3400 they had for sale. We tried the same procedure on this tractor and it worked great! This mechanic looked at me and said the same thing the parts guy had said!! (The parts guy never told the mechanic what the problem was). When we got back inside, I asked the parts guy how he knew so much about this model tractor. His response was that he tried to know as much as he could about all equipment they sold!!! VERY IMPRESSIVE!! They are going to pick up my L3400 to install the backhoe, subrame, etc. & will address this defect at that time. It really is nice to get this kind of service from a local dealer.
