Aaaaahhh, B-arrow, we have a winner. Someone is actually going to use this info to better their business. Sometimes a business person has to walk into their jobsite and pretend to be a new customer. Look at the exterior of the building, do you have a bunch of junk sitting around? Is the shop clean and orderly? Do you help customers quickly or do you wait for them to ask first? Are work orders always completed and readable? etc etc etc

I second that, in fact I think I sould be throwing a steak and beverage party for all the guys here helping me along! I know I have more than likely saved $1000 in wrong purchases or purchases that I should of made and did not that would cost more later to add on. This board tops the top for me on my favorites, number 2 is MICHIGAN SPORTSMAN (habitat improvement site) Not spamming guys its a free bee!!!!!!

I didn't find one in time for the weekend, so I guess I'll order one. I did just find an online article comparing marine diesel fuel funnel filters people may be interested in.

Same juice, basically the same engine, looked like a decent article and we have a few marine stores around here I can check out.

Once it gets boring, just jump to the links at the bottom for the results.

Also, I found "Racor Fuel Filter Funnel" and "Mr. Funnel" Ken listed. Google finds both of them nicely.

I haven't gotten one yet, but any of them look like a great idea and may also help with the more than a little overblown Kubota FEL bar & fuel fill issue as well.

I just finished the "FST versus HST" thread and now I see that I am indeed talking about the GST. I'm sure I saw HST on manual but perhaps that was an option on some models.

I just pulled my L3010 with FEL,Box, and loaded tires on my 16' trailer to the mountains and back, 1000 mi round trip, and had a 650# log splitter in the bed of the truck. I don't have a bush hog yet, but it didn't sag that much. I checked the ATF and the fluid still looks and smells new. The temp. never got close to 210. I have a 98 Dodge 1500 4x4 quad cab w/ short bed. Downside was 10 MPG and 45 mph up a couple of the steepest mountains, a small amount of bouncing,and not using cruise. I know your rig will handle the weight if properly balanced. I did use cruise some of the way back but left the log splitter and some other weight in NC. No sway, bounce, or shimmy, felt good. If you had to pull your rig onto the trailer and put the bucket in front of the bed to get the bush hog on, I guarantee the load was not balanced. My tractor, box, and fel take up every inch of my trailer bed and is balanced perfectly. But when I take it back before winter I will remove the 4-500 gal. of water in the rear tires and replace it with four of five gallons of windsheid washer or rv anti freeze when I get there. That 10 mpg was a killer at 1.89.

My machine came back last week and I got in some seat time this weekend. They re-piped the jaw to "run off the bucket circuit".

Now it is controlled by side to side stick action.

Maybe my immagination, but I seem to have lost a good bit of jaw closing force. I'm going back out there one night this week to be sure and see if I can crush some 2x4's or something.

I'm still interested in a good practical hydraulics book (or web site) if anyone knows of one I can buy. Trade school text book...

I know theory basics, but need practical. Pump makes pressurized fluid, valves routes it where needed, bigger cylinder = more power but slower, prv keeps things from breaking...

But what is the typical flow diagram of a tractor, what is a power beyond unit, what is inside that diverter valve for the jaw, how does the oil get back, how can I add rear hydraulics to a B7800 for that top link...

Dave..we use round pots made of coated steel mesh. We put the cheapest, smellyest cat food in perforated jars inside. Then we look for 400-500' of water depth in a glacier fed bay and drop them for one tide cycle (12hrs). Shrimp like the glacier silt and they run deep.

4 pots on one 700' line clipped on at 30' intervals. We use a gas powered pot puller. Wrap the line around the capstan and pull them in about 5 minutes. Empty, rebait and drop again. My record for one pull was around 220 shrimp.

Both are very fine machines. If money is not an issue; you will have to be the judge as to whether the bells and whistles as well as hydrostatic drive trans are important. The 790 is a very capable machine but is a very basic gearshift tractor with 27 hp. The 4115 is a much more modern designed hydro drive 24 hp machine. Personally I would get the 4115 but hat is not to say the 790 is at all a bad machine. I prefer hydro drive. Mark has a 4115 and can give you the best appraisal and comparison since he owns and regularly uses his. I own a 4410 which is a bit larger machine.

Well I come from a family with small skulls - guess that means we have smaller brains. But the hat has a long adjustable strap that could fit my wife's German skull. (I just made her put it on!) So I imagine it could fit a size 8. :)

What's your opinion on a Kubota box scraper? It looks like it does not have 2 blades for scraping forwards and backwards as many other manufacture's do. Do you find you need both blades?

Thanks for the feedback--just be careful of the arms hitting the stops with deck off, my rod was "mysteriously" bent--it may have been from adjusting the height with the deck on and not re-adjusting after taking it off. Todd

The owners manuals seem to be notorious for inaccurate capacities for front axles. Did you drain it at all 3 drain plugs? There is one in the center section and one in each drop housing. If you didn't drain the drop housings, that could account for some of the difference. If you did drain them, I would try to measure how much you drained out. You should be able to add as much back in as came out.

You need to really take care of your clutch on this tractor. You may be running the tractor with the throttle in high rmps which will require you to slip the clutch more then the foot throttle. 50 hours is to soon but do the adjustment and keep a good eye on it and make sure you have at least an inch of pedal at all times and watch how you use your throttle.

Definitely check out the radiator and front grille for blockage. There have been discussions in the archive about Kubotas not coming up to operating temperature and I have to admit mine falls into that category as well (B7800).

In 85-90 degree heat, with 5' rotary cutter on 18" pasture grass & weeds the tractor stays at or below normal on the gauge.

People have to ask their insurance companies what exactly is and is not covered. Most companies will cover tractors for fire, theft, and acts of God. I doubt most companies will cover them for operator caused events, like rolling or falling a tree on it or anything when it happens away from the owners property. If the tractor is being financed most companies require coverage for operator damage, but they seem not to scrutinize the coverage until after an accident. I bought Sentry insurance through JD for cheap money, something like $120 for three years. This basically covers the tractor and implements for any damage, on or off the property. Liability falls to my homeowners policy (and liability umbrella). I'm not sure yet what I'll do after the finance period ends since my company, Amica, doesn't offer any sort of operator damage coverage.
