Power Service is the most readily available and cheapest. I use it in my Cummins and Deere. I also have used with very good results the Deere Summer Formula fuel additive. Standayne also makes a very good performance formula that claims the same. Incidentally, Stanadyne used to make the Deere fuel additive.

Lee, yes it supposed to be that way, and when you re-sharpen them you should reproduce that edge again.

If you put a 'knife-edge' on a bush-hog blade it will not hold an edge, or hold it as long, as that 1/32" flat face will, it will get worn off very quickly.

Also, if you do re-sharpen the blades on a bush-hog be sure to get them VERY close to equally weighted when your done or it will vibrate or shake badly from the inbalance and that will put a LOT of strain on the driveline. That will dramatically shorten the life of the seals and bearings in the gearbox.

A bush-hog is not meant to make a fine cut on the grass, it is strictly a fast slash operation.

It's not the same as a cultipacker. It is a light tillage tool used to prepare seedbeds prior to planting certain crops.

The basic problem is that it is NOT intended for use in 'virgin' soil, just land that has been previously, and hopefully fairly recently, been worked already with plow or disk.

It also does not leave a fine enough finish to be suitable for planting turf into for instance.

I just bought my first new set of blades for my Agri Cutter 5' bush hog and noticed that the cutting edge is not sharpened to a knife edge. It is flat and about a 32nd of an inch wide. Is it supposed to be that way or am I supposed to sharpen it?

Similar to the hazzards outlined in this thread, a contractor on the same site we were working at was helicoptering exhaust stacks to the roof of an industrial plant. The tag line for one of the stacks wrapped the ankle of the hook-on man and took him for the ride of his life, upside down, before the helicopter was radioed about the problem. The man was an ex army Ranger and was able to spin himself into position to grab another tag line for the ride down. He was brought to the ground without a scratch.

All accidents are preventable.

I have 52 hours on my 2210 after going thru the whole Kubota vs Deere bit for about 2 months prior to buying. Went with Deere cause it was cheaper than what the Kobota dealer was quoting; and while I think the Kubota is a good tractor, I liked the green better! The 2210 has exceeded all my expectations! The mowing deck cuts much better than the Toro Wheel Horse that I had and the tiller is just amazing. When I finished tilling our garden, we didn't even want to walk on it it looked so good.

Just a side comment. Bought the 2210 in early March. The Kubota dealer called in late June to say he finally got an FEL in for the 3 or 4 BX's he received in March and was I still interested.

Sorry to hear of the problems with your blue machine but please don't believe that all blue tractors have these same problems. I think AV8R & Kubotaguy are right, it's not a problem with NH but rather the dealer you bought from. While I would think NH would want to know of a lousy dealer in their network, I also doubt they will do much about it.

I know my dealer well enough that he would have NEVER tried to pass that stuff off on me, nor would he send someone out to deliver a machine that didn't know how to operate it and it's attachments. It was up to you right then and there to put a stop to the whole mess.

I've also found in the 25+ years of being in the service & parts division of one of the BIG 3 automakers that big corporations WANT their dealers to rectify the problems on a local level if at all possible.

If you had all these problems from the get-go, you should have been in the dealer's office the very next morning with two cups of coffee (one for you and one for him) trying to figure out a solution to your list of complaints. Griping LOUDLY after the fact will get you no where.

If we learn anything from this it should be that dealer relationship is as important (if not more) as the deal you get. Unless you are willing to accept responsibility for all your own repairs, you better find someone who will work with you at the local dealer level.

When buying, spend some time at the dealer's service department and watch what goes on there for a couple of hours. You'll soon know if it is someone/someplace you want to trust working on something you just spent thousands of dollars on.

I was told the new 4X20 tractors replace the 45-4710 models. They have 10% more h.p. than the models they replaced. The 4720 is a new model entirely with more hp. I was told to expect the 3x20 series to be introduced later this fall and they will replace the mid or smaller frame models, not sure which maybe both? Help me out.

I had the exact same problem on a Ford 8N. It turned out to be the vent on the fuel cap was clogged. With no air entering the gas tank, the exiting fuel pulled a vaccuum. Try removing the fuel cap and running the motor. If it keeps running, then that is the problem

That sounds about right. The lift capacity given in the book is at max height. I still don't completely understand the difference between lift capacity and breakout force, which is nearly three times higher.

What my picture does not reveal very well are the loops at the bucket ends.

They are drop forged steel eyes on 1/2 inch, machined shanks. My chain grab hooks swivel on the eyes and I center the load with the big hook in the middle.

The big hook/trailer hitch are backed with 1/2 inch steel plate placed on the backside of the bucket where it is stronger.

With the hitch ball in place, the tractor can pull or spot its own trailer (the 16 foot car hauler) and even haul moderate loads of trash and such . I haven't really pushed it past the 3000 pound mark. When the load gets that heavy... it goes on the rear hitch or drawbar.

Broken, we are both running about the same size machine, my 'Bota is 45hp at the crank.

The 84" Rhino can be a real challenge in 'virgin' soil sometimes. It is the outside limit of how bog a blade I could run for sure, a 72" would be better with more aggressive cuts.

My logic was that the primary use I was getting it for was road maintenance and that doesn't require a lot of heavy cuts or deep ripping.

I think in the long run you will be happier with the 72" blade you bought.

I've got a pair of 12'x12' doors in the shop, if I hit anything it's on purpose, and even then I'd have to be trying REALLY hard.

There is however a small shiny spot on the underside of the header of the garage door at the house where I carry the pallets of firewood in. The ROPS (on my old machine) cleared by about 1/2", when I got carried away loading pallets of firewood that often disappeared. Since getting a machine with a full cab I haven't been able to bring myself to experiment that way.

Glad to see this posted. I plan on doing this mod too. I'm OK with the idiot lights but you'll notice that on the 2210, the temp light does NOT self test when you first turn on the key. All of the other lights do.. but the temp doesn't. After reading the manual.. that is how it was designed. Go figure?! Imagine overheating the engine all because a .75c bulb wasn't working....
