Hey Everyone
I'm new to this forum.I just bought a Yanmar 1601D,and was wondering if it was ok to use synthetic oil in these diesel engines.If not what would be the best?

There are several very good synthetic oils on the market with "C" ratings for diesel engines, not the least of which is good old Mobil 1.
The best deal out there is Shell Rotella, a 5w40, full synthetic, specially formulated for diesels that is available at WalMart for about $13 per gallon. I use it in everything.. lawn mowers...Camry.... and tractors. ....

trezone, it is recommended by most manufacturers not to run synthethic oils until after the break-in period of the engine. Not that familiar with Yanmar Models to know if your tractor is new, but if it is a new machine, you probably shouldn't run synthetics until after the first, and some prefer second oil change (100hrs). ....
