Toolshed - I tried both before I bought my 3130. They both would have the la723 loader & same 90 backhoe. So as far as lifting & loader work, there's no difference. The only thing you get with the 3430 is a little more rear wheel Hp but I must say the 3130 has plenty & I have been satisfied with it. Good luck, You'll be happy with either CUT.

DRankin - I was advised to seek your knowledge & experience with wheel wieghts. I own a Kubota 3130 with R4 tires & would like to add rear wieght with wheel weights but dont have any room to spare on my trailer as far as adding width. Can you possibly post a pic of yours & tell me where I could get some wheel wieghts that wouldnt stick out past the width of the tire?<br>

Thanks for the tip, I will contact him. The log didnt Pop the tire off the rim, it poped a hole in the tire...I hit it right were a small limb had be cut of it so the log had a stuble sticking out of it.

I was having some troubles with my BX2200. !st it wouldn't charge woth a lick. and, it all of a sudden didn't want to start and stay running. I found my problems (I think) and wanted to pass some info along.<br>

First, the starting problem. I went through it up and down and all around. It would start and only run with the key held in the start mode. As soon as you let the tension off the starter key it would die. I figured it was a fuse. I got the test light and all fuses were good. Then I started looking. I figured a bad key switch or a bad fuel solenoid shutoff. The local dealers didn't have either one. For what ever reason I decide to change all the fuses. The 1st 20A fuse for the key start was fine, i tested it with my mini meeter but when I put the new fuse in it fired up like a new machine. I swapped the fuse back and it wouldn't run again. I have a fuse from the twilight zone!<br>

As far as the charging problem. My battery light never came on since I got this machine. It is supposed to come opn with the temp light with the key on and engine off. I took the alternator off and brought it to the local auto electric guy at Bear Hill Electric here in Bethany. He took it apart and said it was fine. He blew the dust out and put it back together. He said it was either a fuse or the regulator. I went back home, rebolted the alternator, hooked the battery back up and BAM the light was on with the key! I fired it up and it is putting out 14V at full speed. I took the alternator wires off and put them back on to check them and they were fine. I spoke to one ghuy who said these newer reghulators have a chip in them and if they sense a low battery or short or any indication of a problem, they go into a safe mode and shut off the power from the alternator. This guy works on boat diesels and wasn't sure if the kubota tractors have the same new tech. He said they reset when you disconnect the battery and re attach the cables. The previous owner I got this from hadn't run it for a while and told me he needed to jump it. I have a strange feeling he crossed the jumpers and the regulator went into "safe" mode if this is the type on there.<br>

All I know is the dealer and local tractor shops all told me they have yet to see any electrical problems on the newer or even the older bx's. I think this was all caused by the previous owner and this may be valuable info to some of you should you have a charging problem. Try disconnecting the battery and it may work like it did for me. The only other thing I think may have been the cause, but unlikey, is the alternator lost it's ground. It is grounded from the bolts on the brackets. Maybe it was installed when damp and built up corrosion. I think this is unlikely but who knows. Either way if you run into problems don't spend the 169 bucks on a new alternator right away...Jim

make sure the hydro lever is in " N" - I just bought a BX23 and sometimes I have to work the pedal back and forth a little to get the lever to go back into neutral if I park on an incline and it wont go back in easily

Robbie - I agree. I demoed an Hst first. The dealer let me use it for a week. I found it to be less agressive on the hills. I had to waite an extra 2 weeks to get the GST, but I am glad I did. I hardley even use my feet at all. I use the column shuttle shift lever to do all my forward & reverse moves & it has impressed me on some serious inclines.

Anyone have a tractor canopy manufactured by Firebird. Talked with a dealer today who offers these for his JD and Kubota line. They are comparable with the Curtis line and are supposed to be built better, stronger, with less noise and most of all cheaper than the Curtis brand. Any experience with installation would be helpful!

Yes that would be my first choice, I knocked around the idea of building wood carriers and castering them, then after realizing that cost I looked into car dollies and started adding up, (disk atleast 4) (plow 2) (back blade 2)
(post hole digger 2) (rake "no idea lol) now I just bought a box scraper today ) It added up to more $ than I wanted to spend. In the future it may be not be practical either for me, (for I am starting to think about building a impliment barn Just need to figure out a better name so when I put the tall garage doors on it my loving wife may think it is just a toy shed) and I will not be putting cement in it for awhile.
Rolling them around would be the cats ass though.

I am not sure I am following the calculations. Are you subtracting the volume of the rim?

I do know this: when I had filled tires they were 245-70x16's and they went from 70 pounds empty to 190 pounds, filled to the valve stem. I used the bathroom scale to weigh before and after.

If that was plain water.... and it wasn't..... that would be 14.4 gallons. (120/8.33)

That is what I based my opinion on when I said I would be surprised if a BX/2210 rear tire would hold 10 gallons in the real world.

I don't want to start a urination olympics here, but I do have some hard data that doesn't stack up to the math.

What would a reasonable price be for a used Kubota 1630C tractor? It's a few years old, say 6, but is in solid condition and ready to use at will. Has the standard options; everything works. Thanks.

All the major hydraulic components were ordered from Surplus Center. The control valves are Prince, I can't remember the manufacturer of the cylinders. The quick connects are SafeWay. Hoses, fittings, etc were all ordered from Surplus Center.<br>

The first step is to match the control valve size to the auxiliary hydraulic output of the tractor. I'm not that familiar with the BX, but I would think you would be looking for a valve set rated at about 8gpm. Be careful to size the valve properly so you don't restrict the flow, or end up with an enormous chunk of iron to mount. It also must have a Power Beyond Port. My remote set is plumbed off the Power Beyond of the FEL valve. I mounted the auxiliary valve to the loader tower and made custom handles for the valve to make the reach convenient. Mounting on the tower made connections for the Power Beyond, inlet, and outlet quite simple. The remote plugs are mounted on a bracket that bolts to the end of the rear axle casting. The holes are pre-drilled and tapped on the B-Series for a sub-frame. I believe thay were 8mm bolts. Sizing the cylinder for the side link was difficult, since you need a very short retracted length to allow room for the clevis ends. I fabricated my own side link clevis ends from 1/2" bar stock to match the pitch of the link. The top link was much easier since it requires a longer retacted length and weldable ends were available at TSC.<br>

Costs are approximate to the best of memory. Brackets, clevis ends, some hose and fittings came out of the home stock.<br>
This was done on a B7800. You need to make sure the set up is appropriate for a BX model.
