It would be understandable for the RPM to be a little lower than max with the PTO engaged. It takes a good deal of power to swing the blades on a bush-hog.

I have never run the tractor at full throttle. It seems like it is really hard on the engine. What is a max RPM for theses tractors?

The M-series are "mid-size" tractors. The Grand-L series are premium-featured compacts. There is some overlap in horsepower, but in general the M-series are based on a larger "chassis". My understanding is the MX5000 is a "value" M-series model for someone looking for a larger machine without having to pay for all the frills.

This discussion has been informative and helpful. However, some of you have much bigger rigs than the 2210 I'm looking at. If I had a bigger unit I'd certainly only be considering bigger tandem axle trailers.

With the 2210, FEl and MMM, it sounds like I'd be in the 2300#-2400# range. I'd trailer it only occasionly I expect, thus my desire for a solution that could work, but that would also be useful for moving my kids to college, and hauling brush, etc.

I'd still prefer a heavy duty single axle trailer if possible. I'll be pulling it all with a Suburban so I've got the tow vehicle to do it. (I used to pull a 25ft boat with no problem on a tandem axle trailer with it.)

Are there any specific brands that are worth special consideration?

My dealer told me the complete opposite. That for my warranty to stay intact, that I must perform scheduled maintenance per the manual. I used all Kubota fluid and filters on the 50 hr service and it cost me $266.00 and 2 hrs of my time. Small price compared to a 17,000.00 machine or worse yet a Kubota certified logging time at 65.00 per hour for non warranty covered work. I follow the manual, save the receipts, and keep a log of what was performed and date performed.

The rear wheels on larger mowers are the same dimensions as a BX, 2210, GC2310 etc.

Your new tractor is just an inch or two shy of 15 feet long with everything resting on the deck. You will need a 16 foot tandem axle trailer with brakes.

They come in two basic configurations.... 5000 pound GVW and 7000 pound GVW. Of course you can get them even heavier... but that is beyond the realm of towing a BX.

Anyway, don't waste you time and money fooling with a 5000 GVW like I did.... spend the extra $200 bucks and step into the 7000. I had to trade up when the lighter trailer wasn't doing the job.

Where is your property in N. Nevada? I am in Carson City. BTW, there is a guy just up the road who can get you the trailer you need without gouging.

So far I have a great relationship with my reputable dealer, too. Since the compact and sub compact machines come in several colors and are similarly spec'd, the reputation or past experiences with a certain dealer might be the deciding factor when buying a new machine.

OBDIII on this truck (I think). The only way to get the codes is at your frienly neighborhood Chevy dealer. I don't know if there is a "usere" interface available for these.

grasgod, a good friend of mine here in CT brought a deere over to G&H for a repair of a cracked case. He brought it there several weeks....actually a few months ago and it still isn't fixed. We have 2 small places here in my town . One is called New England Tractor, it used to be Johnson Automotive. They sell Mahindra tractors but they can fix just about anything. They are good for service and like the "little guy". The other one here in Bethany is Digenaro Service. This guy is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. They can fix anything but the crack of dawn or a broken heart. He works on anything that runs and fixes it right the first time. He's got some good guys working for him and most of the time he will jump on your repair the same day. Some of these other dealers don't give you the time of day unless you are buying 3 excavators. I wouldn't hesitate to use either of these guys before I go to F&W or G&H and get lost in the shuffle.

Really like I said though my main pourpose is only a small 6 inch lift of the skids to haul out of the garage. I thought of castors but those doggies are expensive when yoy start adding up 7 skids at 4 on each and around 8 bucks a throw thats like over $200 in wheels. I too have a garage door on the end and one on the side also. I just only did not put in a large enough door (standard ones) I built the garage before I knew I was buying a tractor.

I tried to get info on this site and other web Tractor sites about DF-Bulldog but got limited and lukewarm advice about this tractor, I have a distributor located in Vestal NY that I have visited Twice,1st time they were closed( Sat. morning), 2nd time no one was there who could answer my questions, I tried to call a couple of times but got the same answer( they were suppose to call back with info but it never happened).From internet research and the two visits I made looking at the the tractors they had in their yard it appears this distributor is putting the BULLDOG name on the Dong Feng(DF) Tractor and the Kama Tractor, both are chinese tractors. I was not impressed by the service this distributor gave(just looking for information),what kind of service would I get if I needed repairs or parts???? nothing
personnal but before I spend money I need to know about this tractor and it would be nice to learn this from the people who want to sell me this tractor.
I think the tractor you are looking at is too small for your needs, I only have 31 acres,but heavy forrest with heavey rock terrain, I should be looking for a bulldozer
but because I have horses the uses for a small tractor is greater. I probably will hire a dozer to do the heavy work.

Rear hydraulics are not a problem with the 7800. Simple and straight forward. The position control is not a change over that would make any sense at all. If you are going to be doing a good deal of grading work, go for the 2910. If you want rear hydraulic plugs, either machine will do.

I still vote for the 2910.

I looked into the JD...it's not what they used to be...aluminum rear ends etc. Do your homework first. I bought the BX23 after looking into them for a couple of years. I don't regret it at all.

There is plenty of history of excessive machining shavings in the filters and screens of new machines. The scored 3-point valve could easily be explained by shavings left behind from the manufacturing and assembly process. The 50hr change should take care of this problem in the future. All hydraulic systems have some drift. Seals and especially spool valves have a certain amount of leak by. You are doing the right thing by keeping the pressure off the system during storage. This will drastically extend the life of your seals.

I haven't had any problems with the hydraulics in my 7800. I'm sure you will not have any problems once the 50hr is completed. The system and components are tried and tested.

50 hour kit is all the filters and fluids I need to do the 50 hour service. I got a container of engine oil and a 5 gallon pail of Super UDT Hydraulic fluid, oil filter, hydraulic oil filter, fuel filters, etc. I knew from reading other posters I would need it so I figured I would get it thrown in with the cost of the tractor and save myself the trouble of having to get all the stuff later.
