Look more closely. There should be a center punch mark on both the crankshaft and pulley to index the proper position of the pulley. I just replaced a front seal on a 1210 last week, so it's fresh in my mind.

I'm looking at getting an acreage tractor and would like to know more about the new advantage series tractors from JD. From the specs it looks like they are between the 4000 and 5000 series. Can anybody shed any light as to experiences or thoughts? Thanks in advance.

paying cash for big-ticket items is a thing of the past nowdays. The poor man just does'nt have the cash for these items so he normally finances. The rich man knows his cash is better off invested elsewhere stocks, bonds real estate etc. so he better off financing or leasing for a right-off.

Has anyone managed to cross reference the New Holland oil filters for the TC29 to the standard brand names like Fram, etc.? My auto parts dealer doesn't have any information on this, and it's just a pain in the tractor seat to go chasing all the way to my NH dealer for a simple oil filter.<br>If anyone has the correct part number for another brand, and knows which is the best brand filter to use, please let me know!

Depends on how much snow you get, but two rules I go by for snow are:<br>1. If using blades or buckets, weight is most important and hp is not a big issue. Of the three you mention, I think this will usually point to a NH and with your type of soil I would not be concerned over being too heavy on the turf. I have similar grades and rocks, but the soil is probably a bit lighter and I have no problem with turf tires as long as I vary mowing paths slightly on the hills so the tires do not get a chance to cause permanent damage.<br>2. If using blower (my choice), the two most important criteria are hp and hp!! Especially in the wet stuff. A good blower on a compact will handle the wet stuff with no problem once you get the hang of it. Just keep the snow moving through the chute. Only times I plug a chute are on the very rare occasion when I shear a pin. I use to have an 18hp garden tractor with a 48

I'm a NH owner (1520) using a front blower & a rear blade. For the blower, I wish I had more hp at times, but I also do not like the new blowers for boomers. They look too clumsy, too hard to install (have too much bolt on stuff) and it doesn't look like it will throw snow as well or as far. I think the same company builds the blower that Kubota uses as NH used on the 20 series. It works great and it's worth every penny.
My lack of comments on JD is only because I'm not sufficiently familiar with the newer series and their snowblower to comment.

You guys must not have seen the New Holland Boomers. Great compact tractors with deluxe 3pt (telescoping draft links) available on most models.

The 4200 hydro does not have enough weight to stop its wheels from spinning when it cannot pull a load and never stalls from a lack of power. If someone thinks that the 4200 is underpowered at the wheels (not the PTO), they need to learn how to operate the tractor.

With the product line that the compact dealers offer,it does make for a tough decision.I own and would recommend Kubota,but look at your dealers reputation and try to take all things into consideration,not just the bottom line.These two units look so much alike,it might come down to which color you like best.

Two & Four digit models were not made for the US. Some three digit models were not made for the US.Some 4 digit models cross over to US models . Parts are easier to get for those tractors. Some models that don't cross have good parts availability , too. I'm a Yanmar dealer . Feel free to contact me if you need more info.
