The 12/12 with a steel roof will be plenty, Soon as you get about a foot of snow on top it will side off like butter on a hot ear of corn! Then once you start boiling and heat that roof up a couple of inches will also slide!

The 790 has a really high ballast rate for it's size, that would lead me to believe the axles are pretty stought.maybe they keep pressures lower for other reasons<br>

Grinder -- having been through one winter with it, I wouldn't claim categorical knowledge!

But the only tricky part seemed to be before the ground froze solid, the blower would pick up some gravel. I might try using the rear blade next year if we get some early snows again while the ground is soft.

Some of that could also have been that it was my first time using a 3-pt hitch... and I'd only had the tractor 2 weeks, most of which was spent building the shed for it. So I wasn't what you might call the most experienced operator!

But I now can't imagine doing snow any other way. Even pro's with BIG trucks have had to give up and bring in tractors/loaders some of our winters. And they always had to drive up here and plow down, so the drive was a packed mess when they got done, which of course turned to ice in the first thaw/freeze. Yuck.

Back in business!! Thanks all for the suggestions. I finely got it out Monday night. I went went down the road and had the guy with his big old case come over and we put a 1" 25' cable under the LX5 and on to the clevese and put mine in neutral and turn the wheel alittle and the next thing i new i was back up on soild ground. He wasnt over for more than 10 minutes...

I just check for any water in the filter and check the oil and greased every thing up and went to work...

The piece you need is right by the right side of the dash at the bottom. Do look for a tight area on the rest of the linkage first.

They will dig into the ground very well for there size. I don't know what you might have to dig to worry about as they are a good aggressive tractor for there size.

Art, Murf, Hardwood - thanks for your comments. Guess Power Hop is real! From the situations you describe it appears be more prevalent with the larger more powerful tractors. Although Art says he has seen this on compact tractors also.

One other thing to add to your specs. Don't let them place the concrete with more than 4" of slump, and make sure the grade has been done properly to drain to a door or a floor drain, but still have consistancy in the thickness of the slab. If you don't keep the mix stiff ( less than 4" slump), you can expect cracks even if it is sawcut. Too much water in the mix increases curing shrinkage and will crack the slab. Inconsistancy in the thickness of the slab will also lead to cracks. Keep the mix stiff and consistant thickness for a good slab.

You can judge the slump by dropping a little concrete out of the chute onto the ground. If it stays mounded, with no run off, it is probably dry enough. A real slump test requires some equipment and procedures that probably aren't available to you. Good judgement is all that you will need. A lot of contractors like to add water to the mix to make it easier to place. Try to avoid this. Good luck.

Deere appears to be re-aligning the model number series of CUTs to be more consistent with the rest of their tractors, i.e. the progressively larger 5000, 6000, 7000, etc., series tractors. 4000's will now be large frame CUTs, eventually mid-sized CUTs (todays 4210-4410) will become 3000 series, and smaller CUTs 2000's.

Cab version 4000 Twentys are expected out by the end of the year.

All of the new 4000 Twentys combine 4-cylinder Deere turbodiesels once used in their skidsteers with (mostly) the back end of the ex-Yanmar drivetrains.

Power is up, in some cases way up - especially torque but the rest of the tractor mechanically appears to be 95% unchanged. A few former options have been dropped (no 2WD so hence no sync-reverser versions), a few options were combined into single 'packages' and one or two are now standard.

I recommend factory backhoes for all applications when possible. I've just seen to many failures from poorly fitted equipment. Kelly has been building them for years and has been relatively good.

The BX owners manual has a section on tire ballasting. Without having it right in front of me, I'd like to say that with all four tires filled, it only adds 100lbs-150lbs or so to the whole machine. Not much compared to the 1500lb tracter with mowing deck plus a 207lb (in my case) driver. I can't imagine 150 extra pounds distributed fairly evenly causing additional problems with turf disturbance.

Stonegate the reason the 6v92 didn't do good in the rockies was lack of torque. Not that there weren't plenty of those double breasted Yamahas running around a few years ago but they didn't produce a lot of torque for hills like there newer 60 series engines. Any of the Kubota's you are steered towards are well built for years of service. That is what Kubota is known for as well as being the leader in this industry with more firsts of under there belt then the rest. While recently breaking in a smaller one on the dyno the tech who was working with it found it hard to believe the torque that it had and could produce so much horsepower below it's rated speed!

Fortunately 28g ammo is plentiful here but more expensive than 12 & 20g since it isn't made in as large a quantity as the more popular gauges. I buy 10 box cases of 28's for about $45/case but 12 & 20g go for $35/case. That's lowbase #8 skeet loads. Highbase hunting loads double for the 28 but only increase about 30% for 12 & 20. Shows the demand factor. But, still, the 28 is my favorite and I score as well with it as I do with my 12 & 20. The 410 is another story.

Off the subject of fueling, I've been landscaping, working on the boat and riding my motorcycle, 2000 miles in a month and a half.

The Rankin blade worked out great. The 2210 has made a reputation around here for solid performance. The runway project came out perfect. EVERYONE was impressed. 155 hours on her so far without any problems..except plugging the fuel filter.

That's the short version of recent events.

Ferrari..5 gallon cans are really a pain. Chief's setup looks great. I did my drum/pump arrangement for about $35. BUT..get in-line filters for sure. I didn't at first and started plugging up the 2210's filter with crud. It stopped everything and was easy to clean. I washed the fuel and added a filter. Life is good again.
