thanx for the info guys. I knew i'd learn something. Good points on the tire rating and where to load the pallet on the trailer. One thought that occurred to me is to throw some of the sod in the back of the pickup to help reduce the weight on the trailer. We just got a bunch of rain & supposed to get more so i'll wait for a bit before i get the sod. Again, thanx for the help.

The Line-X lifetime warranty covers cracks, bubbles, or flaking. I don't think it covers external damage but I emailed them a question about the possibility of gasoline or diesel fuel damage.

Hi. Friends of mine started to purchase 5-7 acres of land with woods and grass. looking into buying some subcompact tractors. As a novice, don't know if it's worth buying them to just mow grass and do small gardening work with them. kinda expensive investment....to justify the costs.<br>

The fronts are a Firestone turfs with the same numbers as your tires: 23x8.50-12. The rears are a run of the mill, mud and snow radial sized to match the fronts.

This setup provides a +5 percent lead on the front axle with 4wd engaged.

The only good way to do this is to find front tires that you like and then match the rears.

Wide, heavy duty, 12 inch tires are pretty scarce. I can only find turfs and R-4's.

There are dozens of tires that will match up on the rear in 15, 16 and 16.5 rim sizes.

Looks like attaching a Curtis blade to the FEL of my JD4115 just got too expensive. Curtis quoted $1760 (full retail) for the blade and quick attach. My dealer wants the full retail price for the blade plus several hours to align and weld the quick attach to the blade. Looking at over $2000.00

Thanks for the info kwschumm. I went to the local dealer today and priced a 3130 with the same attachments and it came to just under $26,000 tax included. I think that is a comparable tractor. So for about $10,000 less I'm going to buy the L2900. Thanks again for the input.

I had a 40x40 poured and finished, 2 years ago, for $1.50 a sq ft. It's 5" of 3500 lb mix, with reinforcement wire and a layer of visqueen. They only had to put a form up for one side.

Everyone else I contacted about this job wanted 2.50 to 3 bucks a sq ft. Shop around and you'll be surprised how much you can save.

I am looking at a 1998-99 L4310 HST with Kubota loader and a backhoe, don't know if it is a Kubota backhoe. It comes with a Pequa trailer to pull it. It has 700 hours. Is $18,000 a fair price?

I have two Kubotas, and am looking for a better way to transfer fuel to tractor...I use a 5 gal. plastic container and a kerosene pump with batteries by lifting jug onto top of hood or steering wheel and using small pump to transfer fuel...How do you fuel yours?

I want to add some work lights to my BX23. However I cannot find any wiring diagrams for this machine. Does anybody have a location for this information?<br>

The Kubota manual mentions an accessories fuse. Does anybody know what accessories this part of the wiring is intended for? Are there connectors located somewhere on the tractor for these accessories? Is it ignition switched?<br>

Todd, I would question why all that had to be done to that machine.

We put far more hours than that on a CUT in a single year in some cases and they don't need that done to them after 3 years.

IMHO, either get it incredibly cheap, I mean REALLY cheap, or keep shopping.

I am usually the one dissenting opinion on this subject.

It has been my experience that B/H's for CUT's spend most of their time doing one of two things, sun tanning out in the yard where they have been set down, or sitting behind the operator as VERY expensive ballast for the FEL.

IMHO, the average CUT user would be better off to rent a Mini-Ex, which can dig circles around the average B/H-equipped CUT, for $200 a day and use the savings to buy something really usefull. Besides, there is little risk of damaging your CUT from over stressing it without a B/H.

In most cases I suspect the interest alone on the price of a B/H would rent one for the two days a year it would be used.

It is VERY true, the delaer warned us about it when we got our big new JD (yes Randy, I bought a Greene tractor, LOL)delivered this spring.

Luckily for us it's not much of a problem since our property is VERY sandy so it isn't a 'hop' to us, it's a part revolution spin.

What they say aboput ballasting and traction in that article is very good info. though. A lot of it is very applicable to CUT's also.

Strangely enough with the recent D-Day rememberance ceremonies fresh in our minds comes this story, emailed to me by relatives in South Africa.

"HARARE, ZIMBABWE - Zimbabwe will nationalize all farmland and abolish private land ownership, the country's land reforms minister said on Tuesday. John Nkomo said all land will become the property of the state and property deeds will be replaced with state-issued 99-year leases. "There shall be no such thing as private land," Nkomo said.

Under President Robert Mugabe's controversial land reform measures that began in 2000, almost 5,000 white-owned farms have been handed over to landless blacks. Mugabe had argued the seizures were necessary to resettle blacks kicked off their land during British colonization. "Ultimately all land shall be resettled as state property," said Nkomo.

Critics say much of the best farmland is not being used because the resettled farmers are too poor to afford equipment, supplies and seed. Production of two of the country's biggest money earners � food and tobacco � has dropped dramatically.

Humanitarian groups have warned that the country is facing a food shortage. The United Nations estimates Zimbabwe will produce less than half the food it needs for this year and has little money or resources with which to buy or trade for food on the world market. The European Union has responded to Mugabe's behaviour by imposing sanctions on his government, withdrawing all observers and restricting government representatives from travelling within member states. But that only served to underscore Zimbabwe's status as a pariah nation, abandoned and black-listed by the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund because of Mugabe's policies.

The 78-year-old Mugabe has been widely criticized by the British government and press freedom advocates as a dictatorial autocrat who holds power through bribery, corruption and intimidation. Critics accuse him of hiring unemployed teens to harass people into voting for him in a door-to-door campaign of terror. These same teens are accused of beating supposed MDC supporters to death in public.

Zimbabwe is facing an unemployment rate estimated at 60 per cent with a soaring inflation rate of 116 per cent while the average Zimbabwean income has been cut in half since independence. Starvation is threatening more than half a million people in rural areas and an educated urban elite is said be getting bribed, threatened or killed by vigilante electioneering attributed to Mugabe."

It seems the concepts of freedom and civil liberties hold little value for some people.

The strange part about all of this is it's only been 20 years since Zimbabwe declared it's independance after a bloody civil war "to escape the tirany and opression of British rule".
