I'm a little confused here.

First of all on clean ground I don't know how your blades could get dull in 8 hours cutting time, we cut commercially and only need to 'touch up' the blades after 3 long days of cutting.

Secondly I'm not sure why you would need to remove the deck, surely it's easier to just lift the deck and remove the blades only, or at worst case, undo one end of the lift and tip the deck up using the hydraulics leaving the lift and driveshaft in place.

When you said it was right after moving some dirt you gave it away.

There is air in the FEL cyliders. This air did not likely get in there fro any loose fittings or connectors, it came from the reservior and was caused by the weight of the dirt itself.

It is called 'load-induced cavitation'.

It works like this, when the FEL is under load the hyd. fluid in the cylinders is under pressure from the load pushing down. If the pump output is below the volume needed to fill the 'back side' of the cylinder and generated by the load pushing down when the load is dumped it will result in a vacuum in the line. This results in air being sucked up the pickup line since air moves easier than oil.

The problem appears the next time you try to lift the FEL, the pressure causes the air to compress until it reaches pressures high enough to make the boom move up, then it springs up and bounces a little from the sponginess of the air, then it pauses until pressures rise again.

The cure is simple, just rev. the engine up and cycle the fEL through the full range of its motion a few times to purge all the air back into reservoir.

To prevent re-occurence either keep the engine speed up and dump slowly, or install a "line throttle valve" on the offending line. These are simple little devices that limit the flow of oil in one direction but not the other. You install it such that oil can only escape at a slower rate, but it gets full flow to work the cylinder. They are cheap and super simple to install.

My father used to deliver fire (Napalm) to them, he said they always ran AWAY just as fast as those little rubber shoes could carry them.

Thanks folks, I appreciate the input. My dealer is going to bring a trade in TC33D w/MMM over this week and let me use it a few days so I'll get a good idea then. I plan to keep the field mowed and the Hog has been doing an OK job but the Lawn & Garden tractor we use around the house is on it's last legs so that's why the interest in the MMM. How well do the pull behind finish mowers do around the house. Can you really get close & around obstacles?

Yes, but not a standard PHD, the lift arms on the tractor are too short to lift the auger. Worksaver or Farmstar, and probably others make a PHD that will fit your tractor nicely. Check out their websites. I believe you will be limited to a 30" x 6" auger. You might be able to go 30" x 9".

I don't see any reason for you not to make the trade for the price. The used Kubotas that have low hours on are a premium as they normally have been on commercial duty and are high houred tractors and in rough condition. The BX's are holding value good as we have had several come in and go out. They are the ideal first tractor because of the price for the functions that are available.

My Ford assisted PS does not have its own pump and is fed from a priority valve on the main pump. On this type of steering the assist is produced by pressure on one side or the other of the sector gear. The control unit is a collar around the steering shaft. Up and down movement of the steering shaft due to thrust on the ball nut operates the control. I guess you've adjusted the steering and the free-play is within tolerance (that adjustment on my Ford has to be done with the engine running). There's also the possibility that nothing is wrong with the PS but steering linkage is binding. I'd raise the wheels with the loader to see if the steering is still hard.

If it's this type of unit, the likely problems are 1) no feed from the priority valve 2) faulty relief valve in the control unit 3) faulty control unit and 4) blown seals in the sector. A small leak shouldn't completely stop the assist.

I wonder how it sounds when the tractor is sitting at slow idle and the steering wheel is turned? If the engine lugs a bit then the PS is creating some load. A 'hydraulics' sound could be the PS relief valve opening. If there's no change in sound or engine load I'd start with the priority valve or pump. If there's some change in sound I'd run a pressure test (My Ford relief valve is adjusted to 1000 psi but it takes a very expensive t-fitting for the test).

If the pressure is low the relief valve can be adjusted. If it won't bring the pressure up then replacing the relief spring and plunger might help. I think rebuilding the control valve and replacing seals else takes substantial tear down and then the entire system might as well be rebuilt.

Here we go, when a manufacturer makes a recommendation for a piece of equipment it had better go anywhere he is selling it or it is just another bunch of wild claims! We have all seen claims from manufacturers that are out of line. Depending on your local conditions dictates what you can safely run. Kubota has always been conservative when rating there equipment which is why they have a good reputation for the quality of there products. We often put 60" tillers behind the 2910-7800 chassis and have not seen one fail yet even in central NY's boney soil!

Have a lot of uneven areas in my 11 acres and my tractor wants to tip all the time up on 2 and 3 wheels,gets a bit scarry at times, is there a way to extend the rear wheels out?Just purchased it in December and don't really want to trade it in just yet.

I've been very happy with my TC29 and King Kutter 3ph finish mower. 3-1/2 years old, 520 hours on the tractor; includes occasional backhoe use, brush hogging, box blade, plows and tills gardens in spring and clears driveways in winter. Mows yards and fields all summer.
I for one still like the standard transmission and would buy the same setup again.

An absolute defense to Libel or slander is the truth. If the statements are true, no libel or slander. Recommend that you contact an Attorney and commence action against the The Lenar Company, it's reps, and the distributor. I am willing to bet that none of them have ever been sued or consulted with an attorney to determine their exposure in this matter or in any other matter that is why the arrogance on their part. You could join with others that have had problems with these folks to share costs. Your attorney will explain that the warranty is not the limiting factor in this case.

Goatee; No Deere doesn't offer glow plugs, they use a 12 volt manifold heater. More than likely the newer glow plugs are more reliable than the ones I've had experience in the past, they were just a pure pain in the behind. I guess the size tractor needed depends on what your goals are for your 12 acres. If it's only mowing, snow duty, and light landscape work the 2210 will do the job, but if your thinking backhoe work, lots of l;andscape work I'd sure consider moving up to at least a 4310 or a like size in an orange or blue tractor. Is your mowing duty "Front Yard" type mowing or pasture clipping type work? Mid mount decks are pricey and a real pain to remove and re install. If your Front yard type mowing is a smaller item you can usually find a decent used rider mower for about the cost of a MMM deck and avoid all the hassle. My experience with 3pt. finish moweres has been good and I still use a Land pride for road ditch type mowing, but they just can't match the quality of cut produced by a MMM or dedicated front mount mower.

When I started my furniture business in the late 70's a man who had been in business for years working for the public said "Never let a piece you're not happy with out the door." Sometimes a customer would want something built that was nearly impossible to build and keep the cost at a reasonable level, but I learned that if you'll take the time to explain the process of how something is put together and why it would be pricey to build it exactly like the picture in their minds eye saw it 90% of the people will understand and either tell you to go ahead that they understand the costs involved, or they would scale down to where the cost was more reasonable. Most of those people turned out to be annual customers and now my Son is still serving them. I guess my whole point in this rambling is that one bad job will say more about your busines than twenty good ones, so never take on a job that you know you can't do right. Kinda like the real estate business where the buzz word is "Location, Location, etc.", working with the public it's "Communication, Communication". In one respect our two businesses are different, a pluged sewer needs to get fixed even in the rain, while we work in a more controled environment, but for both of us communicatiion is still the bigest key to success. If you were told that the tractor was a 2001 and it IS a JD 770, either they dont know what they are talking about or they are lying to you. The last year that JD made the 770 was 1998, after that it became the 790. As for the cost, it seems a little on the high side, for 1600+ hrs. The hours dont bother me but I just upgraded my '89 770 for a mint '96 770 w/ 375 hrs for $7k, after I got a 419 loader and hyd valve, I was still under 10k for a showroom condition tractor.

You can check the year of the tractor by serial number on http://www.machinerylink.com, I don't think that the price guide is that accurate because it doesnt say what is included in their average retail prices loaders? mowers? nothing?

Very interesting....I just called my Kubota dealer, looking for a price and availabilty of a LA681 loader for an L3710
I would like to buy. The dealer called his disti, and he says that Kubota has none, buy may make more by July. $4375 + 8.25% tax. :-( He sells a lot of Woods equipment and offers the same loader mentioned here (1016) for $3800. It sure seems like Kubota mounts their loaders more securely to the frame, and the mechanics in the back say the Kubota is better than any after-mkt. They stopped selling SMCs. $4400 is out of this world, but I want Kubota.

My trans holds 10 gallons, couldn't afford to change it that often, I just looked it up, it's 400 hrs and every 400 after. Nice link to the maintenance schedule Chief. How did you ever find it, the JD site keeps me running in circles. One thing I do like is the pdf downloads, I have one on my desk top that covers everything about my machine and all the options and accesories for it.
