For the bulk that you named of duties the industrial tires would be the best. They would not puncture as easily as turfs if sharpe stones are in the picture. All could still be done with turfs.

When my linkage started to stick on my 7274 (1996)I had actually bent the hitch lifting handle, I bent that back. To resolve the sticking problem I removed the pannels on both sides of the seat. On the left side of the seat is where I found the sticking problem, You will see how the linkage shaft comes out the on the left side (opposite of the lifting hadle side) Loosten up the linkage and lubricate and re-adjust, and has worked great ever since.

DRankin, Nice job! How the heck did you get that before it struck? Those suckers are pretty darn fast! I saw a video of one striking a ballon, popping it, and then striking it a second time before the remnants hit the ground. Do you have many of those in your part of Nevada? We have some dens of Rattlesnakes left here in New Hampshire but, because of their scarcity the state Fish and Game department keeps their whereabouts a secret.

I would like to put a steel roof on my farm building. It would be directly on 2X4 purlins spaced 24" O.C. up the roof. The building occasionally sweats, and I don't want to insulate it.<br>
Is there any way to prevent the roof from rusting through?<br>

You can dig a perfectly square hole with the BX23, I have one and it does take some practice. The Kubota BX23 guide provides instructions on how to dig square hole...check it out at in the guide that the dealership should have. The tractor does NOT dig up lawns and you could probably used the utility of the FEL when moving cement and removing overburden. You can also get into tight spots with it, these are all reasons I purchased one.

You could rent a core drill. Do you have a place for the water to disperse to? If you are in a cold climate it may not be prudent to saturate your soil under your floor,could
also undermine the soil from the cement. Just a thought.
You might consider a trough type drain that would run the
width of the floor to an outside wall and through the wall
to the outside.It sounds like a major job but it is not that bad,the trough comes in sections with a grill on it that is made to drive on. It is a matter of making two cuts
about 5-6 inches apart and break it out and drop in the drain.

What year is it? How many hours are on it? Is it 4WD? You wouldn't want to put a loader on it if it's 2WD. I also think a 5 foot bush hog would be a little much for it.

I am not sure of the brand of 5 ft rotor cutter you are getting, but assuming that it a heavy duty model, the price you were quoted is in the ballpark. It seems to be a very fair price not knowing what part of the county you are in, I was quoted almost 16K in the upper midwest for the same tractor loader without the cutter. Don't forget about the details, tire style, tires loaded, engine block heater, reenforced loader top with chain hooks, and a good hat ;). I really think the most important thing is, the dealer, is this person somebody you are comfortable with and will be able to work with after the sale. FYI You can't put a price on a major headache?

I just started my part time business. I do grading, leveling, digging, trenching and so on. Im doing one of my first jobs as we speak. It involves removing a couple of stumps, cutting into a hillside to grade and level off a 400 sq ft area for a concrete slab around her shed and hauling the excess dirt away. <br>
I started the job thursday morning against my better judgement. It had rained wednesday night and I knew it would be muddy and soft. I told my client this and she said to start it anyway. I show up, pull my truck/trailer/tractor into the yard to get it off the street and sink 3" deep ruts in her wet yard. I tell her Im sorry about the ruts, she says its ok. I start work with the tractor but I feel that all Im making is a mess of her yard, much more colateral damage than Im comfortable with, she says its ok. I spend way too much time digging sticky, wet clay out of the backhoe bucket, tractor time that im willing to eat. I end up at the end of the day with a muddy mess, only half the job done and ruts and mud all around the site. Not too happy with myself, I go home and stew over what I should have done differently. What I came up with is that I shouldnt have even started it knowing the conditions. Now Ive left it a half finished mess. She wanted me to come back Friday to finish the job. I told her I would if it wasnt raining but it rained again early Friday morning so I decided not to. Its now Saturday morn and its been raining all night and it looks like rain again tonight. I can finish the job in the rain or mud but it wouldnt be a pretty site when Im done. Ive always had a special hate for contractors that come in and start a job only to never seem to finish it. This job, under normal conditions, should only be a day at most, now it looks like at least four days. While the client hasnt exactly said "get over here and finish this" she has said "come on over, dont worry about the yard or the ruts" but I do worry because it makes me look sloppy. As far as I know, she has no special reason for it to be done right away except for my equipment and the mess in her yard.<br>
Do I follow my judgement and give it a couple days to dry up or do I give the client what she asks for.<br>
I plan to call her later today and explain my side but I would like some imput from those with more experience.

After looking at the improvements made to the 10 series hydralic pump suction screen and filter , I wonder if anyone has attempted to upgrade their hundred series to 10 series specs. I have only looked at the hydro models, so I am unsure if it affects all models. More filtration is always better , as I am somewhat uncomfortable with just the suction screen which has already gone through one upgrade. Any input would be greatly appreicated. Thanks

Thanks, Chipperman. I'm chipping mostly freshly cut douglas fir trees, and have been putting 10-12 hours/week on the chipper. I'll probably put ~200 hours on the chipper each year (lots of tree thinning to do on 15 acres). A big part of this is just getting familiar with the chipper and how it behaves with sharp vs. dull blades. I've never used a chipper before this one.

My former neighbors had this same situation. They were bush hogging their 5+ acre front yard with a farm tractor and mowing a small area around the house with a riding mower. After they saw my 3-point mounted finish mower, they got one for themselves, and mow everything with it. The 3ph mowers are considerably cheaper than a MMM. I have to say, that from the road the bush hog mowed field looked fine.

Well, the R1's are narrower BUT they are mounted on eight position rims. At their widest setting they are quite a bit wider. I'd have to measure, but you can get an idea by looking at my pic 11. Notice that there are only a couple of inches of tire under the rear fenders. I think you can get 12.4x24 R4s on the eight position rims as well and they'd be even wider.<br>
