I have read the pages many times and can't seem to answer all my questions and group them together.. I have look at new, used, big and small and all come in many colors... Whats a boy to do in the candy store of big boy candy..<br>Heres my situation.. Just purchased 10ac of land and will be building a house and have a 800ft long drive to maintain. Lots of white stuff in winter and lots of green stuff in summer 4acres cleared. I'm looking for a 200hp 6000# loader tractor about the size of a 18hp boomer.. and maybe about half the price of the boomer... Stop dreaming... I know!! What do I need.. I seen this here as many time as I've heard Nancy Kerrigan cry

After reading I am convince that I will need a Compact tractor in the 22-35hp range. I also need a loader, lots of dirt to move around a new house. I have looked at used and new of all colors blue, yellow, green and orange and some faded ones too. All seem to have great qualities, some grind gears, some are womens tractors with the auto(hydro) trans, real men shift gears... Right???
I have heard hydro does not work well when the Michigan weather nears the zero degree mark, is this wrong?
I know if I'm going to be doing serius loader work I would need the hydro or shuttle, but what is the life of a clutch in a compact doing lots of loader work say in a land scaping buisness?
Here are two that I looked at recently:
1992 770 Deere 70series gear trans, loader Heated Cab, 10yr old 5ft brush cutter and a whopping 2100hrs all for $8500 every thing looked to be in great shape. But the hours scare me, is it just broke in or ready to break? How many hours should a clutch last? how may hours before an overhaul? Any problems with the 770 deere? 70series loader looked small and almost useless. I have used backhoe/loaders. I think my Tonka loader has a greater capacity.
The other machine is a Kubota L2350 man trans and no attachments, no front or mid pto, no loader. This machine was in excellent condition and had 500hrs on it and the owner wanted $7900. I met him from an add on this website..
Are any of these prices fair? Good? Does he have another?.
I'm in Michigan and would consider all opinions and if you have a good tractor with a loader and think we can work good deal for both, I would consider buy a tractor from afar... Less than 10 years and less than 1000hrs would be prefered. If your still awake after reading this thanks for the web info.... "> Decisions New Used Color Utility or Compact

the best I can do is 12,000 for the tractor that a 7 hundred dollar<br>difference. I can't figure that one out what do they charge that <br>much for delivery up here in michigan. thats crazy it would be <br>cheaper for me to drive down there and pick the tractor plus the<br>other implements I want.

Yes a 7 foot mower bar is too large. A Five foot would be better.

Your information on the 4000 series is in correct with the exception of the 4100 which is shipped to Augusta Ga mainly assemblied and completed there. However the 4200-4700 (Yes there is now a 4700) is designed by deere and made by deere in Augusta however uses a Yanmar engine.<br>

The price on the tractor is right where I would expect it. The Yanmar diesel engine that is in a John Deere 955 is good for up to 4000 hours if taken care of properly.

Bill when working with the set-up you described it puts the blade way out front not really a problem but it is leverage against the front end of the tractor and reduces the amount of snow you can push at a angle. We're located in central N.Y. and this has caused complaints from my commmercial contractors.

<br>I think that you do not need any counter weight in the loader.The loader by itself is all you need.The worst that will happen,it just won't pick it up.If you ever spent any time on a farm or around machinery,you will find that ,you try until your machine just won't do any more.I think that you will be surprised on the amount that you can do,that the owners manual says you can't.Don,t worry.<br>

Mike, I just did the same thing for the trailer I just got to hual my Kubota. I got the brake control unit from Central Tractor for $45.00. There are 4 wires to it and it hooks up to the brake lite switch on the petal. the other wires are power, ground and to the trailer brakes. It took me about one hour to do a neat clean job to install in my Jeep GC. I have a 16ft. with two axles and it works great with the tractor w/loader on it. You can set the trailer brakes for empty or loaded and for hard or soft braking. It is not hard to hook up just follow the insructions and you should be fine. Von

Chip the kubota will out dig the deere it is meant to do industrial work. But the work you seem to have is home owner work. the loader won't come off the kubota as it is an integeral part of the tractors chassis. Yes you can run the tiller and blower. If you wanted to buy the kubota and get all your excavation work done and then swap off again that might work but you don't need that heft of a unit for what you are going to do.

Nick - Thanks for your response. No Mid-PTO; not sure what size bucket. I'm in the southeast, too (Grady Tractor, Cairo, GA). Hope I have not offended anyone by asking about dealer invoice pricing. I'm a strong believer in supporting the local folks and know they have to make a living; just trying to make sure I get a reasonable deal where both sides win. Thanks to all on this board for all the wonderful information.

Thanks for the e-mail. I just purchased my MF1030 about 3 weeks ago. I bought it as is but the only thing that was just a grond problem. I have been mowing with a 5' rear mower and moving wood, dirt and rocks with the front loader. It seems like a very well thought out design. It has 945 hours on the meter and doesn't show any wear.

There was a belly mower availible for the 1010. Does yours have a mid PTO? I don't know if those were standard equipment or not. The one 1010 I looked at had a belly mower running off of a mid PTO.

I just baught a JD750 with 4wd p/s loader backhoe terfs new bar tire w/ rims 900 hrs good shape needed paint but no rust at all runs ex. lots of power and have also got a 7ft finish mower an 4 ft bush hog all JD. I had a back blade and box scraper. well enough how about the price i paid any one have any coments. it realy doesnt matter i own it. Thanks kevin
