I've been looking at the JD 4000 series tractors. The nearest dealers have both a 4500 and 4600 but those are a little large for my needs. Another dealer has a 4400 folding rops, R4's, sync reverser, but I don't like the vague shifting. I went by yet another JD dealer today and they had a 4300 HST, 4wd, folding rops, R4's. This is the first hydro I have driven and it is really nice :) but the price seems high. They want $19,500 for that tractor with a 430 loader. The dealer that has the 4600 wants $21,800 for the 4600 with folding rops, R1's, 4wd, power reverser and 460 loader. Is $19,500 high for the 4300? I'm going back within the next few days and see if we can make some kind of deal.--Regards,David

Hi David That price maybe a few hundread high. I have been working on my dealer for a few months on a 4400 hst, 4wd, mid pto, DSCV, R4's, folding rops and 430 loader and we are at $20,400 and I'm going to push for another few hundread. If he stands at that price I would ask for a grill guard and a weight box. If that was his first price you my get him down another 1k.Hope this helps,David ....

Thanks for the reply. I happened to go by another dealer today and they had a 4400 HST, 4wd, R1's, folding rops and 430 loader. They want $19,500 for the 4400 and agreed that $19,500 for the 4300 I had seen was about 1k high. I also went and demo'ed a Kubota 3710 HST. The hydro on the Kubota was a little smoother but I like the lay out of the JD petals a little better. I'm going back tomorrow to do the deal on the 4400. Thanks again.--Regards,David ....

I recently purchased a 4300 HST, 4 WD, Ag Tires, no loader but with the loader valves (DSCV) for $15500, so it seems like you may be able to get a little better deal that you currently have although the shortage of the 4000 series can be expected to keep the prices higher than normal.Good luck - by the way the tractor is great !! ....

If you check, I believe that you'll find that the grill guard comes standard with the 430 loader as part of the 430 package.Mike S. ....

Well, I went to buy the JD but ended up getting a Kubota. I went to a dealer about 70 miles away that sells Kubota, NH and Case. Their a family owned business that does alot of ag business as well as compact. I test drove the tractor for about 45 minutes and got accustomed to the hydro pedal. It's a 4310 HST, 4wd, R1's, LA681 loader for $21,500. I also bought a Rhino SE 5 shredder with front and rear chains for $800. They will deliver it tomorrow :)--Regards,David ....

The Jd dealer that hosts jdlawns Web site does, indeed, have very good prices which they follow up with excellent service after the sale. My JD955 and JD4400HST came from this company along with their support after the sale. After purchasing many cars over the years from many different dealers--I cannot recommend a single car dealer, but I can recommend the company behind the jdlawns Web site for their patience, courtesy, prices and support. ....
