Unless you have some sort of long term experience in doing excavating it will be a tough move to make. Allot of excavation is a pretty exact science, and takes a good eye and steady hand to get the job done right. To get started though if you do not have any equipment yet you might want to look at a Kubota l 48 they are very versatile and industrial grade to handle commercial applications.

if you take yor old battery to a good retailer they will know which one you need by just looking at it.

You would probably be able to get the seat replaced. The grab handles are a toss up. when we get used ones in like that I spray them with wd40 or armor-all that usually stops the dry rotting.

There are a few companies out there that make loaders for all different types of tractors ie. woods,bush hog, stocker, alo, and many others. If you find one of those companies that produce a loader for your tractor than they will more than likely have the valve and all hyd references that you would need.

try heating it slightly but do not get it red hot. A regular propane torch would more than like like get it hot enough. If that dose not work dose your bucket have to option of pinning on new teeth? It would have a hole in the middle of the tooth. If it dose than you could get a new tooth and pin which in turn will make it allot easier to replace.

Oak is durable, stronger, heavier and (maybe) less expensive than treated lumber, but both are acceptible. You might look into lashing ( remember Boy Scouts ? ) the stringers to the trees using a wedge-shaped spacer to get the stringer reasonably plumb. There would be more flex in the structure without the nails pulling, and you wouldn't have to cut the trees, so when he outgrows the treehouse you still have your shade.

Wow, that is somewhat of a can of worms - a small one but, a can of worms just the same. Thanks for the info. I read the whole thread but, I'll go back and read the links later tonight. The info about which water to use has peaked my curiosity.
It wasn't that I was trying to save money buying the non JD material, It was more a matter of convenience. Auto parts stores - a dime a dozen with convenient hours VS JD dealers - few and far between with so-so hours. You are right. For the amount I'll use of all the required liquids and oils I wouldn't save much by not buying most of them right from one of my local JD dealers. Except maybe the Diesel fuel conditioner but, that's another can of worms from a different thread.
I guess I'll sit down with my manual and make a list of all and go on a shopping spree at one of my local JD dealers.

You must have some really nice soil to have so much erosion in just a few years. Here there is so much clay and stone that would never happen unless the ditch had an awful lot of water flowing through it.<br>
First I'd check with your county agricultural extension service to see what info they may have about this problem.<br>
My feeling would be to forgo the plywood (PT wood is expensive and is prohibited in some areas), and use stone or crushed rock to shore up the sides, especially near the barn. Another solution might be to use a culvert to handle the water, around here 20" metal culvert is about $200 for 24' lengths. <br>
Has the ditch eroded deeper over the years? Is there a lot of water flowing through it normally or only seasonally? Do you have a picture? I'm assuming there is only a little pitch, and perhaps fairly heavy seasonal flow, and the increase in width is due mostly to a fine soil.<br>

Most of the mowing in this area and in KY is done on contract. The contractor buy what holds together and are not really fussy with the price. They are concerned about value. Neither you nor I will buy the heavy duty units, yet as they are mowing 8-10 hours a day 5-6 days a week that is all that they purchase.
My medium duty mower BushHog lists 3.5 K new. The heavy duty is more? If JD stood up they would use it. I want my mower to last a life time. The road crews change ever couple of years.
Ken I am afrain my boxes are a mix of this and that. All have a lifetime waranty, but as I do not make a living from my tools I try and minimize the amount I have invested.

been enjoying my 1914 as well.........too new (12 hours) for any problems to surface. Kioti loader works well and the 52" box blade sure does a nice job on the long driveway to the barn.

Huckmeat, I'd never hire any excavating contractor who talks about solids getting outrun in a drainfield. It shows he doesn't know much about septic systems! Solids should NEVER be in a drainfield. The drainfield will fail sooner or later if they are getting in to the drainfield.<br>

Grinder, I really disagree about what you said about chambers for drainfields. I've had my chamber system for 6 years and it's a good system. Probably 75% of the newer systems in this area (n. MN) are chamber systems. As far as the possibility of the chambers coming apart is concerned, if you've hooked 'em together (which is easy)correctly, they can hardly be taken apart again without really trying. The problem with any drainfield is not getting the septic tank pumped regularly and allowing solids to eventually get out to the drainfield. That's a recipe for failure.

I looked at before the "lawsuit" and was impressed with their specs, however there are not many around my neck of the woods.<br>
