Another big part of the problem (strictly IMHO) is what the farming community up here calls the "not me" syndrome. It's kind of a twist on the "not in my backyard" syndrome.

Large farms, even highly mechanised ones like my family's, still need a group of labourers, there's just no getting around it. There will always be physical labour required to farm, especially certain types of crops.

In our area there is a big problem, too many young adults getting into trouble because they are unemployed and have nothing else to do but hang around.

Meanwhile the farms in our area are forced to bring in Mexicans and Jamaicans to work as labourers on our farms. Why, because the local kids would rather be unemployed than 'stoop' to that kind of work. This is not really difficult work, just a hard's days work, physical labour.

Now the problem is a there is a group, recently organized, who are trying to pressure the Gov. to stop allowing immigrant workers because they are 'stealing' jobs. The farmers of course responded by saying 'We have jobs available, nobody wants them.'

Finally a judge jumped in with both feet, in sentencing a young man for stealing a truck from a farm and taking it for a joy-ride he sentenced the man to either one year in jail, or 5 years probation conditional on his getting a keeping a job as a farm employee (read labourer) for the 5 years. His parents blew a gasket and called the judge's sentence discriminatory since it forced their son into slavery!! Now I fail to see how a job paying the same wage everybody else gets constitutes slavery, let alone a bad thing considering the alternative is JAIL TIME. Nevertheless, the parents hired a big-time lawyer who is appealing the sentence.

The more I read about things like that, the more I like my dog.

I just used pine chips from trees we had taken down to mulch around the bottom of 20 6' skyrocket junipers. My purpose was to hold the moisture in the ground and prevent erosion of the soil since I planted on a grade. I'm not an expert on benefits of different types of mulch so I am interested in other opinions also.

I always thought dehumidifier water was the same as distilled, not sure, butI used to use it for batteries and coolant mixing. I haven't had one for a long time now though.<br>

Here is another article in the link below which helps a little more for any Toyota owners. Unless I can find what is called "Japanese Conventional" which is non silicate high phosphate coolant, I guess I am off to Toyota.<br>

It'd be good to have more information here. I wonder what the idle rpm is and the problem has been noticed at the rpm before? I also wonder if the bucket cycling was when a valve was operated or when all were in neutral? Was the 3ph in neutral when the tractor was off? Does the 25 have power steering and if so does it have it's own pump or use a priority valve?

If the oil and filter has been there for awhile or you aren't sure of their condition I'd change them on principle. I'd also check any clamps on the suction hose for tightness and inspect for breaks and look for froth on the dip stick after the tractor has run for awhile.

The bucket cycling is a bit mysterious unless the explanation is that it's normal at very low rpm's. There are some possible explanations but maybe the basics and more info should be worked through first. The 3ph leak down may be a separate issue.

I don't know how much weight on the front is OK or needed given the operation. My thought about the bolts is to check the grade (grade codes should be on the bolt heads). If the weight is OK for the tractor and the bolts are Grade-2, I'd replace them with Grade-5 bolts. I think SAE bolts are also grade-5. There are harder bolts available I don't think I'd go above grade-5. Maybe there are different opinions.

Carlos: I bought manuals for my Ford compact through a New Holland dealer. I'm not certain but I don't think New Holland supports Ford industrials but it might worth a try.

There also may be information about manuals on the New Holland site. If New Holland supplies it's Ford tractor manuals through an independent publisher there's a chance that the publisher acquired rights for the industrial manuals along with the tractor manuals. The downside is that even if a publisher is found, there can be long waits for a new printing for manuals that aren't in stock.

You might post on the Ford Board at Yesterday's Tractors (YTMAG). Discussion about the Ford industrials is fairly common over there.

Zippy; What are you wanting to power with the mid mount PTO pump? How many GPM is required for your needs? Beagle and jeffR both have good suggestions. In my own case I'm mounting a 20 GPM pump on the mid PTO of the 4410 for continous use to power grain auger orbit motors while at the same time the rear pto is also in use. I don't remember for sure what the GPM of the pump on a 4410 is, but I hooked an auger motor to the remote to try it and it would power the auger but just did'nt have enough volume to run it fast enough. Heat is another factor with continous use so a radiator and fan powered by a small orbit motow with bypass fluid from the main pump will feed it. My plans call for this to be a totaly self contained unit, pump, resirvor, filter, colling system, valving etc. Then mount some rails on the belly of the tractor so that the whole unit will hang from them, when it's not needed or in the way just unhook the PTO shaft, slide it out like a drawer with help of a transmision jack to suport it and sit it aside with no hoses, wires, cuouplers or anything else to unhook. My goal is a no muss no fuss simple system, but it isn't built yet so a few flies may get in the ointment before it's done, but those are my plans. Frank.

Does anybody know the pressure and volume numbers on an automotive belt driven power steering pumps by any auto manufacturer? I am making an 6.5 X 4.0 1.5 yard hydro dump trailer and I am not especially happy with the 12 volt hydro pump prices starting with 1 way pumps at 279 buckeroos. I was looking at some welding project plans and one plan said it was made with a 12 volt starter motor chain driven to a automotive power steering pump. the infor mation was scant to say the least. I can build a 12 volt starter motor driven by chain or belt to a power steering pump real cheap and easy but I need pressure data to match up a hydro cylinder of the proper diameter. Any tech heads got some pressure and gpm numbers for me??? I was thinking the pressure must at least 1000 psi with at least a 1.0 gpm. I think with a 3.5 to 4.0 inch cylinder hooked up as angled direct push, I need to push at least 5000 lbs. the lift time would be most acceptable. What do you guys think?

I think the best way to go is an HST with a 3 speed range box. Need Power? Go to Range #1 and the hydro has a ton power. Need road speed? Go to Range 3. Need all around ground speed and power Range 2 where it is at and that is where my HST spends 80% of its time hooked up to Range #2. Some tractors only have 2 ranges...high and low.

Tounge weight???...if you want to reduce tounge weight put equalizer bars on. There are people everyday that pull 35 foot travel trailers with 1/2 ton pickup trucks that weight alot more than your tractor loader backhoe package. What separates you from them is they have a bigger engine, extra big radiators for engine oil and engine coolant, transmission cooling radiators equalizer bars. Just because your trailer weight and contents exceed the weight of the tow vehicle is NOT a reason for concern. Trailers are being safely pulled every day with trailers weighing much more than the tow vehicle. HAVING A CHEROKEE pull a trailer weighing more than the Cherokee itself is no reason for concern. IF the tounge weight is heavy use eqalizer bars and allow for longer stopping distance and apply the trailer's electric brake well in advance of the required stop point. I sure as heck wouldn't pay 150 to a dealer to transport a TLB a scant 6 miles as I would not want to take your Cherokee and TLB and go to Florida. We are talking about 6 miles.

I wish I could get pics... Just no internet service to My PC with Dig Cam hookup, sorry... These forks appear in good shape... L-shaped steel for the mount to the loader... Looks like They would just slide in where the bucket would... Still on the trailer... Red in color...
