I am ready to pick up a B7800/FEL 60" bucket with folding ROPS/Mid PTO package and R4 tires. $22,000Cd. Sounds expensive EH! Well don't forget I am in Canada. My question is, Is it possible to use the Mid PTO (2500RPM) to power a hydro pump setup, so I can have aux hydro?

This is my first tractor and I am wicked excited, I have a lot of addon Ideas since I work at a company that produces custom electronics for most large companies. Eg, All Bobcat Electronics are done by us, right down to the components on the mother boards. Ever seen a Bobcat with Keyless entry? Check out some of the products we make

It's possible I imagine. We had a discussion a few weeks ago on the subject but I can't recall the subject title. There are some issues in selecting a pump if a ready-make kit isn't available. the discussion didn't get into mounting issues.

You might think through the needs for hydraulics that couldn't be satisfied by additional control valves or a power-beyond kit off the loader hydraulics. ....

Zippy, went through the same analysis with my 7800. Adding remotes with power beyond off the FEL was the best solution, both for practicality and economics. With a pump off the mid PTO, you have issues with reservoir locations and pump mounts. The power beyond circuit is simple and very cost effective. Just ordered a two spool SV valve with power beyond for $160 (US). Add some fittings, hoses, and quick connects and should be plumbed up for less than $300. ....

Zippy,

Why would you want to use the midmount PTO and not the tractor's rear PTO?. Most PTO mounted hydro pumps intended for tractors are to be used with the 540 rear PTO. ....

Zippy; What are you wanting to power with the mid mount PTO pump? How many GPM is required for your needs? Beagle and jeffR both have good suggestions. In my own case I'm mounting a 20 GPM pump on the mid PTO of the 4410 for continous use to power grain auger orbit motors while at the same time the rear pto is also in use. I don't remember for sure what the GPM of the pump on a 4410 is, but I hooked an auger motor to the remote to try it and it would power the auger but just did'nt have enough volume to run it fast enough. Heat is another factor with continous use so a radiator and fan powered by a small orbit motow with bypass fluid from the main pump will feed it. My plans call for this to be a totaly self contained unit, pump, resirvor, filter, colling system, valving etc. Then mount some rails on the belly of the tractor so that the whole unit will hang from them, when it's not needed or in the way just unhook the PTO shaft, slide it out like a drawer with help of a transmision jack to suport it and sit it aside with no hoses, wires, cuouplers or anything else to unhook. My goal is a no muss no fuss simple system, but it isn't built yet so a few flies may get in the ointment before it's done, but those are my plans. Frank. ....
