I got a couple of used 5 ton truck bodies from a friend who bought 3 trucks but just wanted the trucks not the boxes.

I placed them on concrete blocks to keep them 2' up off the ground. The bodies had been meat delivery units so they had steel floors and big hole where the reefer unit had been. I made a heavy steel mesh grate to cover the openings and a hood over that again to keep out rain. The back doors got a similar treatment, but at the bottom instead of the top. Then they got a coat of black paint.

The wood gets stacked in 4'x4'x4' (ish) steel mesh bins which are then loaded into the boxes. The wood is 'aged' for at least one full year, the date of loading gets put on the door with grease pencil. The black box in the sun all summer creates tremendous heat, that 'bakes' the wood dry, the top and bottom vents make for very good ventilation using only convection currents, on a hot day there is quite a draft at the upper vent.Each box holds a little over 6 bush cords and the pallet boxes make handling the wood with forks on the FEL a breeze.

As wood is needed it gets moved one box at a time to the house (garage), shop, or customers for burning.

My flashers stopped working on my BX1500 and I found a fuse marked "H/LP" was blown. I replaced it and it arced and blew like there is a dead short. What does H/LP stand for?<br>
Any suggestions as to what could be the problem?<br>

I believe battery chargers used for large battery banks in solar and diesel generator applications are 'smart' and have a conditioning phase where they slightly overcharge the batteries to ensure they are all as similar as possible.
I don't know if the trickle charging of individual batteries in the bank can achieve the same results, but I don't think it will hurt anything. I wonder after a number of discharge/charge cycles if the 'off' batteries revert to their original condition.

I need to soften my well water, and am betting alot of us "rural" people have opinions...I don't like the idea of having to use the salt type for health reasons, and came across the CATALYTIC WATER SOFTENER on the web. Does anyone have any experience with these or other types of water softeners?

I posted a response, but can't find it , so I'll try again. I have two designs for the indicator built and tested. One is for a MMM on the tractor, the other is without. Both work very well with good repeatability. The indicator displays the height of the 3-point arms in front of the operator for grading work.

I am working on a set of drawings for both designs. when finished I would be happy to share. Our digital camera took a poop, or I would post pictures.

The indicator is perfect for working with the 1/4" valve on the B7xxx tractors. I can put my blade at the same height every time without turning around.

Thanks a bunch. I have about an acre of brush to tear through this spring, I' thinking the tooth bat on the bucket would be a big help.

I am working on a set of drawings for two different designs. I have built and tested both of them with good success. One design is for a MMM on the tractor, the other is without. The indicator displays the height of the three point arms in front of the operator, allowing you to repeat implement height for grading work. So far with the testing I've done, both seem dead accurate.

As soon as I get the drawings done, I would be happy to share. Our digital camera took a poop, or I would post some pictures.

It was much smoother when I got it about 50 hours ago. Could "dirty" fluid or clogging filter cause the problem?

I am about to buy a NH TC24D, but if the 14LA will fit on a 29D, I will buy that. I want the new style loader, and from what I can gather, the 29 and 33d's will only take a 7308. Anybody out there know??

Hi. I may buy a TC24D with 12LA loader, and I have looked at two different rigs. One had a 48" bucket, the other a 54". It may have been my eyes playing tricks, but it looked like the 48" was deeper in addition to narrower. The 54" looked longer but shallower. Like I said, probably an illusion, but I thought it was worth a reality check to see if it's possible the two different NH dealers got their 12LA buckets from different sources. I was assuming that whether it was 48" or 54", they would always come from New Holland. Thanks.<br>

Jazaks..kwel idea. We have summer soltice lawnmower races here and THIS year I'm gonna win. My old Craftsman got blown off by a couple of other ones that had by-passed the governors and upped the gear ratios. I was considering nitrous before getting the 2210. I'm sure the Kohler would have chucked a jug or 2.

I believe the Deere outclasses everyone else here since it's the only CUT and everyone else is running riding mowers...heh, heh.

Well its official, the local Farm and fleet by me had raised their prices on the disk I wanted from $699 to $748 last Feb. 2. I have been driving by the one they have as a visual aid in front of the store almost every week since Jan. I decided I better buy today for the steel prices may increase it. I went in and asked about it and found the price had increased on the 2nd of Feb. all disks back in the back lot were already marked up except the one in front of the store. With out any hesistation when I questioned them about the price? They told me I would get it for the old price and then they changed the tag outside. I also found out they are scedualed to go on sale on May 8th for $688. I decided not to wait, for that may never happen with the steel price increases, so I bought the one I wanted for $699. Hurray!!!!!

Our contract at CNH is always right behind deers or so it seems. The word always is, "we get what JD gets and NO MORE" If that is the case, we cnh workers make no more than JD why is their tractor more $$$ ? Maybe because they have a very loyal following? and they can get away with it? Or maybe they do make a better tractor (to each is own you know?) All I can say it that you should not feel like you let them down on the other hand they may have let you down by making it too easy to pick anouther color $$$$$. I can see a thousand dollars dif. to stay with your brand, but if your comparing apples to apples and there is a 2K difference I personelly would make the same choice you did. It was easy for me, I get a slight discount on New Holland but I can tell you if the deere would of been 2k less I would of jumped ship that way too!
No offense to any other poster here on color or in my speculation of price and quality. Everone has a different dealer and a different reason for what they choose and I respect all choices.

But Stephen,

by saying "never say never" you've rebuked your own council. Seriously though, Australia's history and character in regard to firearms is very different from that of the US. The American constitution is a wonderful document, enshrining and spelling out with spine tingling words and poetic oratory individual rights and freedoms whereas ours is a bland legal text more akin to a private club than anything else. This is the simplest illustration I can use to help explain the different way we respectivley see our governments.

It's a big area for discussion the US and Australia are great allies and always will be but be asured most Australian's don't believe "our guns weren't taken from us" but rather "excess guns were taken out of the system - by us, for our own protection".

Gun reduction in Australia has helped make us one of the safest most peaceful places on earth.

No I have not, still waiting to recieve the tractor. I told them not to worry till the snow was gone but I hear it is schedualed to arrive on Easter. Sorry no help on the boomer yet but I will post the first weekend after trying all my new impliments out>

YOu will need rims to convert it, you might find a dealer that might swap you around if you are lucky enough to find someone who needs yours.

Do not tow that tractor and think it will start as you might have to open the wallet deep for a new hydro. Do start eliminating safety switches till you find out which one it is. This is not uncommon on tractors and you are not the first by any means to have this problem.
