It is important for you to be comfortable with your dealer as well as the tractor. There is far more to this then just buying a car or truck as they have less varied uses. Look at the features and figure out what you needs are to do the tasks that you want to do and how you want to accomplish them. Figure out what attachments you will need, the size of them that are needed to the jobs in a fair time. Look at the basics, don't worry about the twenty post holes you might want to drill some day. If you don't have enough need for a backhoe purchase now chances are you won't make the purchase!

We only use 1-2 cords a year. I set up four firewood racks by using 14 foot long 2x4's and some of those steel end brackets they sell. Then I bought some 4x18 (I think) blue plastic tarps and strap them down with bungee cords. It works pretty well for us.

You can search the posts. The model is quite new and a little large for most. Murf may have some. He has a smaller one with the cab. I don't see much difference between the larger L5030 and the smaller L4330 and L4630.

my 1979 317 engine passed on this past December right before a 30" snow storm- I ended up buying a Kohler 18HP made for the 317 replacement from www.smallenginewarehouse.com it was around $1300.00 & was not that difficult to put in- I had a neighbor help- the motor mount templates comes with no directions & I messed up on 1 side by not reversing it but once figured out was ok. You also have to cut a hole in the grill to fit the exhaust which comes with. It has been running well since & has an oil filter & different air cleaner that can be bought at Home Depot or a Kohler distributor. It also has the electronic ignition now- great since I bought points,condensor& wires for the 317 right before the engine started to leak oil. They were used for 20 minutes or so.

no whieghts are probly needed we sell both woods and bush hog and i have never herd of using check chains iether one is a good choice so i would have to say what color do you like better red or orange?

THANKS DAVE, I DID FIND A PICTURE OF AN ALLIS CHALMERS 5015 ONLINE WHICH APPEARS TO BE THE MODEL. I WENT TO WIXFILTERS.COM WHICH HAS ALLIS CHALMERS FILTERS WHICH APPEAR DIMENSIONALLY CORRECT EXCEPT MINE HAS A GLASS/PAPER FUEL FILTER AND WIX LISTS A SPIN ON. WHICH FUEL FILTER DO YOU HAVE AND HAVE YOU EVER REPLACED IT? DO YOU HAVE A SOURCE?

I think a good rule of thumb is a spinning tire is useless.<br>
Of course you are going to spin, but a tire that is biting<br>
is more effective. As far as the loader goes, lift it as you<br>
enter your material and that will put some weight on the front tires to help provide traction,back off the throttle<br>
if your rears continue to spin.This will also keep your work area from getting<br>
all rutted up and rough to drive on, thus increasing your production.<br>
I have screened and loaded hundreds of thousand of yards and<br>
never broke anything with this method taught by an old timer<br>
who had done millions of yards.<br>

Battery charging update. I tried the trickle charging idea and it worked. As a reminder from my post above I had 4 deep cycle identical batteries that would stop taking a charge at 2, 2, 3, and 4 amps on the charger meter.

First working with the battery that would stop taking addition charge at 4 amps I would knock off the surface voltage by using about a 500 watt load for 1-2 minutes (700 watt inverter running some lights and fan) and then trickle charge for about a day. Repeat knocking of surface voltage and to regular charge, then repeat the trickle/full charge cycles.

The first time it would still drop down to only 4 amps when fully charged. It went to 3 amps after the second set of cycles and went all the way to 2 amps after the third cycle. I will try this a few more cycles to see if it will approach Zero but first I am working to see if I can now get the two batteries that were only dropping to 3 amps down to 2 amps so I have 4 batteries stopping at the 2 amps point.

Here is an out of the box idea.......

A Brisk Air, 7100 BTU, 9.1 amp/110 volt, RV roof air conditioner ($521) run by a 2000 watt Honda generator ($1000) mounted on the tractor frame.

It air conditioner would require a 14"x14" hole in the canopy and could be replaced by a standard roof vent in the off season.

Have to agree we are moving away from technology base. Every third world country in Asia is vying for "high Tech". We will not be serviced based either those jobs are going to India. I can't wait until I get a hire a lawyer from India or be treated by Chinese doctor at mucho savings!
We are still by far the worlds largest exporter!! Jobs and technology that is. Damn the politican brave enough to do something about it.

Actually Dennis that's a touchy subject at my place.

When I realized that I had a 'spare' TV and a glaringly vacant spot in the shop, I naturally thought if I put that TV in the shop and hooked the sound up to stereo I already had out there, then I could keep up with the races on Sunday afternoon AND work in the shop.

Apparently I thought it was a MUCH better idea than my wife did.
