I am thinking about buying one that 450 hours on it and was wondering what you guys think about them reliability and usage wise? Just curious as to how well they have held up and their overall reputation. Points to look for when evaluating the tractor would be helpful also. Thanks!

Make sure yu still get the full Kubota warranty with the tractor. Might also asked what the loaner was used for, just for backround info. Check the fluids and look for anything low or suspicious looking. Drive the tractor, engage the PTO's, preferably with the deck on, and cycle the 3-point. Tune your ear. Nothing different than trying a new one.

You may not have to change to turfs from the R4's. R4's can be ok on the lawn depending on your soil.

Also make sure this tractor has any other features you were looking at on the new one.

Depending on just how much digging you plan on doing you may be better off using a little more robust tooth.

It seems to me that the smallest of the teeth available for the mini excavators is pretty similar.

The advantage with the ones I'm thinking of is that the mount into a socket in the bucket. The socket could be reproduced by just welding short pieces of tube steel to a flt bar that bolts into the front edge of the bucket.

They're also pretty cheap to buy.

well guys the new toy arrived 9:00 am est:) i was pleases to see the befco 48" box scraper lined up perfectly with the i match quick hitch. however i do have a question i noticed the rear pto with the box attached while in transport mode would wobble from side to side is this normal
i have not even started the owners manual yet? let me know thanks in advance . roboha

It would seem that 3pt mixers would create the same "controversy" as 3pt log splitters. Namely that it is harder to use the tractor for anything else while the mixer is attached.

Two items I would stick with the manufacture on is the FEL and backhoe. The manufacture builds the tractor and therefore builds the loader to match that tractor. Other makers have their FEL's fit a variety of tractors and may not fit quite as good. Again that's just my $.02.
On the topic of ripping your yard up. I drive my 7800 (although considerably lighter than a 35 PTO HP machine) all over my yard all year long and as long as I am not making tight turns in 4 wheel drive the yard doesn't suffer. It may get marked occaissonally, but nothing major. I just try to leave the grass a little higher around winter time to take the driving on it.

KW, I know the subject is Fuel Additive but your pictures enthralled me. Do you want to talk about #7? I've got some real hilly ground around my house as well and I've had some real eye openers. If it wasn't for my previous life in the military, flying and understanding weight and balance I probably could have gotten in some real trouble. I hope your machine wasn't to damaged

The categories are confusing at best, especially when you find a sub-CUT that has more horsepower and capability than a CUT.

General rule of thumb, I guess, is the size of the wheels. If it comes with 12 inch rims on the back it is considered a sub-CUT. If the rear rims are at least 15 inches then it is a CUT.

It may weigh less and have less power than the Sub-CUT but the wheel size seems to be the dividing line.

I would put the two models you have chosen in different classes. The B7800 is closer to the JD 4115 in performance and weight.<br>

The 4210 is nearly 1000 pounds heavier and is considered underpowered for its weight class by most Green fans.

My thoughts:

1) Anyone who thinks a BX22/23 is a toy suitable only for cleaning the cat box has never used one.

2) You can get so caught up in resale value that you might end up with something you can't even use. Get what you need now and let the chips fall where they may later.

3) That is a fabulous price for the BX. If I had just an acre to work and the land wasn't rough as a cob, I would stop right there.

Only the BX1500 runs the weight on the engine to cut the vibrations at an idle. The three cylinder as far as rolling mass is supposed to be the best but Kubota's fours are really smooth. There is differences from one make to the other and one size of engine to the other. With break-in it should smooth out more then it is when new.

I run an 84" Rhino on my 'Bota (4310) and like TomG find that a full box makes for a seriously tractionally-challenged tractor. I don't (and won't) have loaded tires on it for turf protection reasons.

I go by the theory that 90% of the time I want 7' of coverage, for the 10% of the time I need to move a lot of dirt, I'll put up with making a few extra passes. Besides, I find being able to work that much farther out from the edge of a rear tire makes doing road or driveway work a lot easier, you don't have to put the machine right on the edge of the ditch to work the shoulder.

FWIW, get a hydraulic toplink and scarifiers too if you can do it, it makes using a boxblade so much easier.

You must have a much firmer soil with a lot of stones. I am from north Fl and the fellow that needed advise if from GA.
Our soil has alot of sand and clay, no lime rock etc, Once it is broken up a tiller makes a great seed bed and for us Our tractors run cooler using a tiller. I can not say I have heard of the rear ends having trouble down here.
We have a King Kutter II that has treated us well. We plant 30 acres several times a year for our deer.

Thanks for the reply. The manual only says placing the vanes in hole #1 increases distribution to the left, placing in #4 increases to right, experiment with your material for best results. Checked the landpride manual and it says almost exactly the same thing. I guess I'll have to experiment...
