If I remember correctly the tines were either inch and a quarter or inch and three eights by about 16 in. long, and your're right a pressure relief valve would have solved the problem. I did fail to mention that is was grappling rocks nearly as big as a wheelbarrow too. So that machine was tough, but the tines weren't quite as strong as the frame and maybe that was designed in to keep goofers like me from destroying it. Frank.

As an Auto Technician that works on a lot of trucks, I recommend the 3.73 for you. The 4.10 is lower than needed is used more for heavy pulling

Thanks everyone for these posts! I've been looking at John Deere and Kabotas for a few weeks now. I've just purchased a small 8 acre ranch/farm here in Punta Gorda, Florida. Being severly wounded and disabled in combat, I have decided to work smart and purchase a tractor and various work saving attachments. The Deeres and Kabotas are fine machines but just how much am I going to work them? Are they worth the price trade off? My opinion is no, not at this present time given my cash flow and necessary work load on the machine chosen. Thats why I was excited to find the NorTrac offered through Northern Tool, Co.
The majority of opinions by those actually owning and operating the NorTrac is very encouraging. A BushHog brand deck looks more do-able with the $9,999 price of the NorTrac 30 HP tractor. The PTO develops enough HP to operate smoothly with the 30 HP diesel engine and attachment. This just may do the trick for me. My only concern is whether I might attach a hand lever for the operation on the clutch as my left knee and leg were shot to pieces and can not summon enough strength to operate the clutch repetedly and often if positioned on the traditional left side of the platform. Other than this personal adjustment, this machine (rough looking but hard working is fine)puts a smile on my face and I'm glad I found this Forum to quiet my concerns and answer some of my questions.

I've got the BB1172 which they call medium duty, but it looks pretty heavy duty to me. It's the one in the link I posted above.

The last big hole (4x4 and 6 feet deep) I dug with my BX was to excavate a broken waterline.

The two plumbers I was working with had just done a similar job where it took two of them 1 and 1/2 days to dig the hole with shovels and another 1/2 day to repair the pipe and re-fill the hole.

I dug the hole with the BX in less than an hour and we did the whole job in less than one afternoon.

I think you have a hose pinched. (No not you personally... the tractor!) I had the same problem with my BX when it was new. It it real easy to do if you are not careful when mounting the backhoe.

I am doing some research for my husband. We live on a 1 1/2 acre wooded lot and feel we need a tractor to do maintenace. we are dealing w/fallen trees from Hurrican Isabel, need to grade and do general clean-up. We are considering the Nortrac 4x4 25HP tractor w/front end loader. I am trying to find out about reliability...any comments? Thanks!

The sub-frame for several Kubota BH's do not run under the tractor as you might expect.

Instead, they use a 1" thick slab of steel attached to the same spot as the 3 point top link, but secured to two holes rather than one.

Other parts of the hoe are then attached to the 3 point lower arms.

Given how it is engineered, I could see where you could run into trouble if you had both systems in place.

You think hovering in a rotor is tough, try it using only vectored thrust from a big fan.

Then try to drop it gracefully onto the rolling, pitching deck of a flat-top......

I'll take a rotor over terra firma any day.

I'm anti-Walmart. Walmart is trying to build a store in Tawas Michigan. They have talked with the City council and have asked for tax rebates and other concessions for Tawas to have the priviledge of Walmart's presence. They will add low paying jobs to the area. We know that all of the other local businesses pay tax committments and attempt to pay their employees a decent wage. The little guys will go out of business, while the experieced employees can then go to Walmart and work for a lesser wage. The community overall is worse off with its tax base but would have a nice looking building.

Businesses like K-mart that are 15 miles away and other small businesses 20-30 miles away will suffer. But that is progress and the benefits of purchasing from a Fortune 500 company.

I had a house in Sturbridge MA on the lake. The town decided to get rid of septic systems. They decided to go to a grinder system for the whole area and save on pipe and excavation costs. I sold the house before the system was installed but had a number of discussion with the engineers. Before they decided to install the system I had paid for the design of a pump septic system.
All the engineers were talking 20 years for these pumps.
I can not say the 2K in septic education was well spent, but in political areas sometimes you don't have a choice.

Sounds like a good deal and the repair is on track.

A split (which I haven't had to do yet) is pretty much common sense but it is good to work from a manual and it does take blocks, jacks and maybe separating forks etc. Shops that do it tend to have 'rail mounted' things so the two halves stay in alignment when they're rolled apart and go back together easily. One thing that isn't exactly common sense for a tractor with a pivot front axle is that the engine rails have to be blocked against the front axle to keep the front from falling over unless it's supported by a hoist.

Depending on the hours it sure is good to attend to everything that might take some maintenance while it's separated. For manual TX's that might include the shift rails.

Your loader quick disconnects are loose. Disconnect and reseat your quick disconnects and the problem should go away. The fact that you can slowly raise your loader points to an internal leak in the cylinders.

This is a pretty common problem.

Can anyone give me a ballpark value on selling a 1997 7235 model cub with a 5' belly mower and 5' box blade, about 300 hours. Tractor is in very good condition with normal scratches and turf tires. would like to get fair market for this Ohio tractor. Thanks.
