I think it interesting that the new movie Corporation makes the assertion that if we phycologically tested most corporations we would commit them.
As the Olympics are fast approaching suppose we had a rowing 8 team that had trained and prepared using USOG money and all the advantages that this country has to offer. Then just before their performance at the Olympics 4 of the team members went to asia, gained citizenship of China, and proceeded to win the Olympic gold metal with their new team. What would most Americans think of these members?
Despite this being clearly immoral, most of us think such acts are perfectly alright for corporations. It happens all the time. Business is business.
I think we just had a little wake up call with Enron, Tyco and others.

If all you need a backhoe for is for a few small stumps, forget it. Hire someone with a stump grinder (makes a heck of a lot less mess) and save the difference.

Now if you want a backhoe because you want a backhoe, that's a different story.

Peters, I doubt it is double and it is often a problem, maybe just more in some areas then others. I've seen enough of it to know that it does exist and if anyone would like more info about it they can go to there local Co-operative extension office and find out for themselves. They also have much info on it for special application such as sports fields. It does play into lawns and farmers fields, most manufacturers are aware of the problems and design products to not damage the soil or turf.

ATV might be good for sidewalks, but when you have to push a lot of snow, an ATV just hasn' got enough weight to supply good traction, even a 4x4 w/chains.<br>

Green, I'm not sure how much brush you will pick up with forks that are only 18" long, especially if you do not have a grapple on top to trap the material.

Paul, the tines of a landscape rake are too close together to function as a grapple very well, you would need to pull out at least every other tine to leave enough space for the teeth to bite in to the load.

As for dealing with brush generally, something I have to deal with for business constantly, dragging it around is not very efficient. The best thing is to get it as compact as possible, as close to the source as possible. If you have to drag it more than from about 100' it's a waste of time. Generally speaking, taking a chipper to the brush is easier than the other way around. A small PTO chipper shooting the chips straight into a wagon with sides would be a nice clean way to deal with it. "Letting the chips fall where they may" is a great way to suppres weeds while building up topsoil in the long run.

I have seen many FEL-mounted blowers, however they are normally powered by a 24hp. gas engine through a chain reduction unit.

In fact a lot of people north of here mount them on a pickup using a regular snowplow mount.

I have a related question for you. I need to get a rear blade & will use it alot for cleaning out old roadside ditches & just about re-digging some of them, along w some regular grading. That means alot of offset work. I think I should get at least a 7 foot blade for more offset & am considering an 8' blade. Is there any disadvantage w getting the longer blades? I also looked at a 6' Midwest blade & liked they're offset system. I have a Branson 3510 that is just under 6' wide. Thanks

The perforated pipe is designed to have the holes pointing down to allow water to seep into or out of the pipe and still keep the flow area open. You can use this pipe to pick up water from wet areas and to distribute it into areas of high percolation.

I have never seen a drain pipe "float" out of the ground. I have put in a number of these so-called French Drains over the years using a combination of perforated and solid pipe. When I only wanted to convey water from one point to another, I used the solid pipe as you are planning to do.

It is possible for the soil over a shallow perforated pipe to erode and expose the pipe if it is very shallow because the covering soil can be washed away with the draining water. I always use as much rock as I can over the perforated section and they have stayed covered. Solid pipe sections have never been a problem whether they have been shallow or deep.

Its amazing how different pricing can be in different regions... I just recently looked at b2150 with fewer hours, but the same equipment for $13500 here in New England.

BTW.. the 2150 actually would sit between a b2410 and b2710 in the kubota line-up. Its a 4 cylinder, 24hp machine, slightly smaller than the b2710 but bigger than a b2410. it includes cruise and position control. Also if you buy it and don't want the mower, let me know...

If you have enough strength in, or it's not too late to re-design the roof structure, and you have enough space hanging a PHD is a good solution.

A chain over a rafter and through the boom with the 3pth up high takes most of the weight when the 3pth is lowered. It also makes it a LOT easier to put it back on later.

A common solution around here is the 'poor man's' overhead crane, sections of barn door track lag-screwed or bolted to the roof trusses, with two sets of trucks (wheel sets) holding up a block & tackle or chain hoist. It makes moving heavy objects or loading & unloading a pickup a LOT easier.

A BX2230 can run a 48" brush hog but will have trouble with anything thicker than grass. Which is why Landpride and woods make a 42" for the BX series and JD 2210. Its only a 6" but makes a heck of a difference. Plus the pins are reversable so the limited 3pt hitch can pick it up. I have a 42" landpride that just came off a BX2200. I have a 48" so i don't need this one. I got it with some other equipment as a package deal. See classifieds for more info.

The number I heard was something like a $500 premium for hydraulic scarifiers. If they're only $150 it's a good deal, but you'd need three rear outlet sets for TnT and the hydraulic scarifiers and that needs to be figured in.

I am purchasing a 1999 JD 445 with 450 hours. I have bought it for $3800.00 and another $750.00 for a brand new, dual cylinder 54" blade. From what I am reading this is a pretty good deal. What do you think?<br>
The 54" blade is 2 years old, but never had the box opened. It is from Alabama and the dealer says he can not sell these things down there.<br>

I dont think Kubota makes a subframe mounted BH for the B7800. Ive been shopping for one for my L3130. A couple of weeks ago I got to see a BL4690 hooked up to a B7800. Its a nice sturdy setup, but its not frame mounted.

I had problems with Ford & GM in the 70's. I bought a '77 Datsun 280Z (now Nissan). Now that was a piece of junk. It looked good though! In 5 years and 50,000 miles, it was repainted three times and the engine rebuilt once.

I have a black cloud over me. Everything I buy seems to have something wrong with it.

For occasional towing and especially with the loads you indicated, the 3:73 will be good and will give improved mileage over the 4:10. If I were getting an HD I'd also go with the Allison transmission. It is more expensive than the 6 speed but you do away with the hassles of shifting. I hear that transmission is bullet proof.

I don't think Ford and GM offer a 3:55 ratio like Dodge. A 3:55 ratio will get better mileage yet. My feeling is that ratio is good for highway driving but a disaster for heavy towing with an automatic. The diesel has so much power and you get such good traction something has to give.

I did not get the hours - will take a look. Also had a back blade on it (they are cheap?) and says has two buckets - has a 6 1/2 foot one on it now and the photo looks like a slightly smaller one.

The same guy has a Ford 3000 with a front end loader for $5500 (among others). That seems a bit steep also.
Is the "used tractor guide 2004" a good resource for prices? Planning on taking a look at that also.
